John Cena dropped the bombshell of him being the WrestleMania 42 host through a social media post two weeks ago. It’d mark his first WWE appearance since wrestling his last match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. The speculation around Cena’s Mania airtime leading to him interacting with specific stars had begun since he announced his participation.

One such name that Matt Hardy thinks would be fun to see him interact with Cena is none other than Danhausen. Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, Hardy affirmed that the 17-time world champion would be so much into it. One-half of The Hardy Boyz also brought up how the ‘Cenation Leader’ posted about Danhausen on his Instagram handle, which implies that Cena’s a fan of his work too.

The rise of Danhausen as one of the most popular acts across the board in WWE is one for the record books. He debuted to a lukewarm reaction at Elimination Chamber in Chicago, but the weeks after that saw him get over with the fans by virtue of putting curses on the likes of Dominik Mysterio, The Miz, Kit Wilson, and even IShowSpeed.

Danhausen’s merch sales have impressed the WWE brass, and he currently has 24 items up for sale on the WWE Shop. The prospect of Cena bumping into Danhausen at WrestleMania has been backed by the majority of fans as well. Hardy also brought up that bit where Cena recently revealed at a fan expo that he might’ve figured out his next role for WWE now that his days as a wrestler are behind him.

That would be fun, for sure, and John would eat that up. He would be so into it. I’m sure he is a fan. He posted something with Danhausen at one point on his IG, which I love how he does that, just out of context posts things. He’ll be all about it, and that’s very cool.

The 48-year-old didn’t spill the beans on what exactly he was referring to but said that he’ll be a lot more integrated into the system should all the stars align. Hardy thought it’d be very cool to see that happen. In the aforementioned conversation, Matt Hardy’s co-host Jon Alba then wondered if WWE could’ve convinced Cena into having his last match at WrestleMania itself if he were available to work the event.

Alba voiced fan sentiment about why WWE couldn’t wait for a matter of 3.5 months to bestow a way bigger send-off to arguably its biggest babyface wrestler ever. ‘The Sensei of Mattitude’ said he believes John Cena is a WWE lifer and one of the most loyal employees that one could ask for. It prompted Alba to ask Hardy if Cena would’ve turned down the WrestleMania farewell to his in-ring career if WWE wanted that out of him, keeping in mind that he’s labeled as the ultimate company man.

The tag team wrestling icon responded with the “I don’t know” line and followed it up by saying that the Peacemaker star would’ve probably agreed to that offer. “Guess we’ll never know,” added Hardy before bringing up that maybe that’s how the entire farewell tour of John Cena was designed to end.

Hardy also stated elsewhere that Cena was banged up physically and knew better than anyone else that he might not be able to push himself any further to defer his retirement. ‘The Angelic Diablo’ mentioned that Cena appearing at WrestleMania, regardless of in what capacity, is great. And the fact that he’s hosting it across both nights would allow him to be featured more on TV than he would have if he were just wrestling a match like his co-stars.

CM Punk says his 2013 Raw clash with John Cena was his best match ever

John Cena has time and again hailed CM Punk as one of his greatest rivals, with the latter reciprocating the sentiment every time he gets a chance to do so. These men had their final singles match last year at Night of Champions, where ‘The Babe Ruth of WWE’ retained the world title against the ‘Best in the World’ after a shenanigans-marred ending.

While they have shared the ring many times in WWE, the one match that hogs all the limelight when fans talk about their match catalog against each other is the one they had at Money in the Bank in 2011. It received a 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer as well. Punk was a guest on the Raw Recap last week. Show host Sam Roberts namedropped another classic that Punk had with Cena a couple of years later on Raw.

Roberts asked the World Heavyweight Champion if he preferred one over the other. The 47-year-old responded by saying that the MITB clash was more of a moment as opposed to straight-up wrestling clinic that they were able to pull off in Dallas on Raw in February 2013. Punk eventually stressed that it was the best match he’s ever had.
