John Cena Declines to Comment on How He’s Feeling as a Heel in Front of Stephanie McMahon
The 17x WWE Champion John Cena eschewed taking a firm stand on his ongoing character arc during a conversation with Stephanie McMahon.

Former WWE chairwoman Stephanie McMahon recently had John Cena on her ESPN+ series, Stephanie’s Places. As soon as the Peacemaker star’s heel turn was brought up, Cena laughed it off by saying he wasn’t going to talk about it. McMahon seemed as if she was expecting a similar reaction from the 48-year-old but did mention that she loves the villainous arc he’s on currently.
The former WWE Chief Brand Officer also noted that she had always advocated for Cena to turn heel, but it never came to fruition until 2025. The Franchise Player then said that he’d been blessed with the small circle of people who’ve always showed him the right way, and McMahon was on that list. For the unversed, the Undisputed WWE Champion, to an extent, owes his WWE fame to McMahon.
Can I just say I had some really good people to learn from, and you are in a very short list of names that falls into……..

She once eavesdropped on Cena’s freestyling acumen at a time when the actor was about to be axed by WWE. The Billion Dollar Princess then pitched her father, Vince McMahon, to bestow an opportunity on Cena, which, in turn, gave birth to the Dr. of Thuganomics. The Cenation Leader has often credited Triple H‘s wife for saving his WWE career in numerous interviews.
Spent the afternoon with someone I admire and who has helped me find “my why” more than most would assume.

In the aforementioned conversation, Cena disclosed why it’s finally time for him to hang up his wrestling boots. He said he can’t lift weights and bench press like his peers anymore. The Massachusetts-born icon alluded to his skills being on a regress, which further jeopardizes the performance of whoever he’s in the ring with. All these factors made Cena realize that this chapter of his professional career has to close.
The John Cena heel run has been underwhelming
The past few weeks of the John Cena farewell tour have turned the fans off in a certain way. While his heel turn on Cody Rhodes at the Elimination Chamber was one for the ages, the follow-up has been equally bleak. Cena’s gear hasn’t changed, let alone his entrance music. The fans were fantasizing about WWE finally letting him use the track he specifically recorded for his once-pitched heel turn in 2012.

Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect, as he claimed, has given the fans nothing. His motto of ruining wrestling for everyone and absconding with the WWE title belt has the audience on tenterhooks. Cena has 23 dates left before he rides off into the sunset.
He recently defeated R-Truth at Saturday Night’s Main Event. But in an extremely baffling decision, WWE has decided to not renew Truth’s contract, and he’ll be departing the company shortly.
At the very least, the former Judgment Day member had the distinction of wrestling his childhood hero in his second-to-last WWE match. Cena will now head to Money in the Bank on June 7. He’ll team up with Logan Paul to battle Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in a highly criticized tag team match.
Could John Cena be in a spot of bother after Cody Rhodes’ SmackDown warning?
Despite having scripted history at WrestleMania 41, John Cena didn’t beat Cody Rhodes on his own accord that night. It took him an assist from Travis Scott to do so. On SmackDown last Friday, The American Nightmare admitted that he hesitated in decking Cena’s skull with the title belt the last time they were in a match.

But it wouldn’t happen again, he asserted. Cena and Rhodes are due for a rematch. There’s no word on when it’d happen. And that’s why the tag team match at Money in the Bank becomes interesting. The ending could see The Prodigal Son pin The Cenation Leader to secure the win for himself and his partner, Jey Uso.
Rhodes would then have something to brag about before asking the Ricky Stanicky actor to put his Undisputed WWE title up for grabs against him one more time. During the same promo on SmackDown, The American Nightmare talked about The Rock‘s offer and how it still stands for him.
