John Cena is all set to grace the WWE ring for one final run in 2025. He will be embarking on a retirement tour for the next year, dubbed the ‘last dance’ of the Greatest of All Time. Although many fans thought 2025 was going to be the last time they saw The Cenation Leader in WWE, he dropped massive news regarding his future in the years to come.
In an interview with Club Shay Shay, the 16-time World Champion revealed that he has already signed a long-term extension with WWE. He said that the WWE Universe is his family, and he plans to be with them for a long time. In fact, the Cenation Leader expressed his gratitude and love for WWE throughout this interview.
Even after 2025, I’ve already signed an extension to remain a member of the WWE family for the near, mid, and long-term future. I don’t think there will be a beat of my heart where WWE doesn’t come out of.John Cena via Club Shay Shay
Moreover, it is not yet confirmed if it is a lifetime contract or not. However, as per the Hollywood Star, it is expected to be a lucrative contract. Therefore, it can be concluded that this deal might be for more than ten years, much like The Undertaker‘s current contract. Regardless, Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect has been gearing up for his retirement tour next year, where he plans to appear on more than 35 dates.
Furthermore, young stars and veterans have lined themselves up to take part in his final run. Cena also confirmed that he would appear on the first episode of Raw on Netflix in January. He might move towards Royal Rumble and then to WrestleMania in Las Vegas. Having said that, fans have high expectations for the legend’s retirement tour.
John Cena addressed a 17th Championship run in WWE
John Cena is unarguably one of the biggest stars to ever step foot inside the squared circle. His run in WWE has been historic, where he won a total of 16 World Championships. The only man who stands on his level in terms of that is Ric Flair. Now the question remains if Cena is going to break the iconic record on his retirement tour or not.
Speaking with Club Shay Shay, the Cenation Leader addressed this possibility. Cena didn’t rule out the possibility. He added that it all depends on the story and the purpose of the character arc. However, the Greatest of All Time’s main concern is to get back on track by winning a few matches initially.
I’ve been a part-timer now since like 2018. That’s six years. I’ve had my chances of coming back and being like, ‘I want you in a match.’ I haven’t won a match since 2018. That’s a slump. Step one, I need to bust the slump.John Cena via Club Shay Shay
Therefore, it makes it much more likely that WWE might go down this path of the Franchise Player proving himself that he still has it in this last dance. Only time will tell if the Peacemaker star will be able to win the world title or not. However, one thing is for sure: the fans are in for a roller-coaster ride on this farewell tour.
