Since turning heel in 2022, Dominik Mysterio has cemented himself as one of WWE’s top heels. His heelish impressive character growth has been nothing short of exceptional. Moreover, the company has allowed him to simultaneously hold both the Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega World Title. Now, if recent reports are true, Rey Mysterio’s son could be on the verge of a showdown with John Cena.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mysterio is expected to defend his Intercontinental Championship against Cena at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event on November 29th in San Diego. This would be a monumental moment in Cena’s career, as the 17-time World Champion has won every major title in WWE except the Intercontinental Championship.
Despite 17 world title reigns, 5 United States title runs, and multiple tag team championships, the Intercontinental strap has remained the one prize missing from his legendary resume. If this match happens, it could give Cena the chance to finally become a Grand Slam Champion before his retirement.
Following his instant classic against AJ Styles at Crown Jewel in Perth, this bout could serve as another major milestone in Cena’s farewell tour, and Mysterio seems more than ready for the challenge. In a recent interview with Graps & Yaps, the reigning double champion made his stance clear.
I mean, at the end of the day, I’m here. If John Cena wants some, he can come get some. He’s got four dates left, you said?

Staying fully in character, Mysterio didn’t hold back from taking a jab at the WWE legend. Moreover, he even warned to put an end to Cena’s career on a grim note.
If that old geezer wants me to put a final nail in his coffin, I’ll be more than happy to. That’s what I’m here for. I’m here to be and stay your dirty double champ.

A potential clash between Mysterio and Cena would be a true generational battle– the future of WWE standing across the ring from one of its all-time icons. With stars like Cena and CM Punk already naming Mysterio and Bron Breakker as the future of the company, this showdown could symbolize the passing of the torch from one era to the next.
John Cena tops Bleacher Report’s list of Top 25 WWE Male wrestlers since 2000
It is safe to say that the last 25 years of professional wrestling have been a rollercoaster of evolution and reinvention. After WCW folded in April 2001, ending the famed Monday Night Wars, WWE ushered in the Ruthless Aggression Era, a period defined by fierce competition, breakout stars, and unforgettable rivalries. That era eventually transitioned into the PG Era, where family-friendly entertainment took center stage.
All of this gave way to today’s modern landscape, one that blends realism and global storytelling like never before. Through it all, WWE has continued to thrive, adapting with the times while keeping its essence intact.

Across these transformative decades, icons like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns have each defined their respective eras, shaping what WWE has become today.
Recognizing this incredible journey, Bleacher Report’s panel, featuring Chris Mueller, Graham Matthews, Donald Wood, Eric Ball, Kevin Berge, and Erik Beaston, came together to rank the 25 greatest male Superstars of the past quarter-century.
Their selections were based on a mix of factors: in-ring performance, mic skills, historical impact, fan appeal, major WWE accomplishments, and overall significance to the company since 2000. And in a result that surprised absolutely no one, the number one spot was claimed by none other than John Cena. Find the full list below:

The list featured a who’s who of wrestling royalty from the past 25 years. Randy Orton claimed the #2 spot, followed by Roman Reigns at #3, while legends like The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and Daniel Bryan rounded out the top 10.
Other notable names included Triple H at #14, Shawn Michaels at #17, and reigning WWE Champion Cody Rhodes landing at a surprising #21. While the rankings are naturally subjective, few could dispute Cena’s well-deserved place at the top. He not only defined the PG Era but also carried WWE as its top babyface for over a decade, becoming the face of a generation.
Now, with less than two months remaining until his farewell, the 17-time World Champion prepares to close the final chapter of his storied career. Cena’s last match is set for December 13th in Washington, D.C., marking the end of an era in professional wrestling.
