John Cena and Logan Paul Almost Come to Blows Before Getting Beaten up on SmackDown

It seemed like there was some miscue between John Cena and Logan Paul on SmackDown. They ended up getting laid out by their MITB opponents.

Next weekend in Los Angeles, John Cena will join forces with Logan Paul to take on Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. These combatants came face-to-face on this week’s SmackDown. First off, it was The American Nightmare who was given a hero’s welcome. Rhodes talked about going home after the WrestleMania debacle and asking one of his close friends whether he was a good champion.

The ex-AEW EVP got the validation he was looking for, given the circumstances he was put through. Rhodes even broached the subject of The Rock making an offer to him earlier this year about selling his soul, which, as per the North Carolina native, is still on the table. After badmouthing Cena next, Rhodes brought Jey Uso out to everyone’s delight.

Uso’s encore of his entrance was interrupted by Cena, who went on to call the babyfaces the biggest wannabes of professional wrestling and the actor himself. The Undisputed WWE Champ also had Paul up his sleeve.

The Maverick came out and got praised by Cena as the epitome of hustle, loyalty, and respect. The Franchise Player added that Paul has the fame and followers to back them up. The Westlake-born influencer would then talk trash about the people of Tennessee.

Once Uso had enough of it, he asked Cena and Paul to duke it out right there. The Franchise Player wasn’t interested and asked his partner to retreat as well, but Paul had other plans. The latter inadvertently shoved Cena, and it seemed as if they’d throw hands at each other.

Just then, Rhodes quipped about their argument being Paul going back and polishing Cena’s peacemaker. What followed was a brawl where the babyfaces eventually stood tall. It was certainly a nasty diss from the Prodigal Son.

Cody Rhodes promised rectifying previous mistake against John Cena on SmackDown

Cody Rhodes wasn’t outclassed by John Cena by any stretch at WrestleMania. The Prodigal Son, however, lost his WWE title. He couldn’t pull the trigger while he had the opportunity to do so, and that cost him dearly. Rhodes hesitated to stoop to underhanded tropes and decided against decking Cena’s skull with the diamond-encrusted WWE belt.

But when the Hollywood mogul had it, he just cashed in on the opportunity and dethroned The American Nightmare after an assist from Travis Scott. On this week’s SmackDown, Rhodes affirmed that he might’ve hesitated the last time, but it won’t happen again.

The former AEW star also admitted that if Cena were to succeed in his intentions of absconding from WWE with its most prestigious title belt, it’d partially be his fault. The WWE seems to be pushing Rhodes as the one to eventually save professional wrestling from Cena.

Moreover, the 39-year-old is clearly gunning for a rematch against Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect. Could it happen at SummerSlam? It might. Also, it seems like WWE has pulled back on Scott’s further involvement in Cena’s farewell tour. However, the rapper is reportedly in WWE’s plans for making an appearance at Money in the Bank. It’d be interesting to see how everything pans out.

WWE urged to turn the heat on John Cena’s booking

John Cena has completed five months of his WWE retirement tour. It was back at the Elimination Chamber where he sold out to The Rock and turned heel for the first time since 2003. It was hailed as the greatest turn since Hulk Hogan joined the NWO in 1996.

Cena’s performances, however, haven’t been up to the mark. Moreover, the lackluster booking has only exacerbated the cause. An industry veteran and current AEW figure, Jeff Jarrett, recently opined that WWE was dangerously close to finding itself in no man’s land in terms of Cena as a heel. The 57-year-old urged the company to up the ante.

A number of fans firmly believe that only a rival as iconic as CM Punk could restore some credibility to The Franchise Player’s evil arc. Cena recently closed the chapter with Randy Orton at Backlash, which, in itself, was the Ricky Stanicky star’s best singles match in the ongoing run till now.
