John Cena responsible for him not becoming WWE Champion, believes Jake Hager
WWE Universe know Jake Hager as Jack Swagger. He is not only a former WWE wrestler but is also a pro MMA fighter. Currently he is one of the biggest names in AEW. In 2010, Swagger won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But could not earn the WWE Championship title throughout his time at WWE.
Hager recently appeared on Chris Jericho’s podcast Talk is Jericho. He discussed his last MMA fight, early years in his career and his days at WWE, among various other things.
Cena refused to put him over claims Hager
While appearing on the podcast, it was mentioned that how Hager had not won the WWE Championship. He pointed out that he was set to win the WWE Championship but Cena refused to put him over. Hager sarcastically mentioned Cena as an unselfish man. Hager was scheduled to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract, but Cena had other plans.
“I hit Cena with the briefcase, I snuck up on him when he had one of his brilliant promo segments. Later, come to find out, he refused to do the job for me for the [WWE] Championship… Ugh. ‘The most unselfish top man in the business.”
John Cena, over the years has pushed multiple young and upcoming WWE Superstars. But it seems like Jake Hager was not one of them.
Interestingly, instead of cashing in the contract on Cena, Hager ended up cashing in on the then WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho. Since their run at WWE, Jericho and Hager have shifted their bases to AEW. They recently are part of The Inner Circle on AEW.
