Nikki Bella and John Cena were one of the most famous couples in professional wrestling for a long time. The 47-year-old even proposed to her in front of a live WrestleMania crowd. While things for them, unfortunately, could not work out, they still seem to have a lot of mutual respect for each other.
Speaking with Women’s Wrestling Talk, Bella said that it was about time Cena had turned heel. She was unsure if he would take such a bold step during his final year as a full-time professional wrestler. Thus, she was very happy when it happened and the entire way that it went down. She said that it was a character that fans had wanted to see for so long. Ending one’s farewell tour this way was perfect.
To end your farewell tour and turn into a character that the fans have wanted for so long. It’s not only, I think, going to be fun for him, but how great for the fans.

These two superstars initially started dating in 2012 and were often seen together on Total Divas. They teamed up for a match against The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. Following their victory, the Cenation leader proposed to his girlfriend. However, the duo ended up calling off their engagement in April 2018. Cena married his current wife in 2020, while Nikki Bella married Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev, a marriage that recently came to an end.

Bella also returned to the WWE recently, entering #30 in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Although she survived for only three minutes, she picked up the elimination of Bayley. Furthermore, she has teased entering into a long-term feud with the Role Model.
Bully Ray predicts John Cena will soon turn babyface again
Another reason why the John Cena heel turn was highly surprising is because of the timing. It is the wrestling veteran’s last year in WWE. He is not hated right now nearly as much as he was during the 2010s, and fans are even less likely to turn on a man who is in his final year of doing what he loves.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray doubted that Cena would remain a heel for the entirety of his farewell tour. There are only ten months left, and he would be a babyface once again by the end of the year.
Let’s just go by this final 10 months. I don’t believe Cena runs it out as a heel. As a matter of fact, I’ll take a guess here, and listen, I was not right about the Cena heel turn at all. I’m the one who said, ‘Nah, don’t think it’s gonna happen.

After all, it would be highly weird for Cena to have his send-off match as a bad guy. The live crowd, no matter where his final show takes place, will probably be behind the Hollywood superstar, no matter his opponent. He would also likely get an incredible standing ovation for all his years of service to the industry.
