The November 17th edition of Monday Night Raw delivered one of the most memorable episodes in recent history. Live from Madison Square Garden, the show featured the stunning returns of Roman Reigns, AJ Lee, and Brock Lesnar, but it also marked John Cena’s final appearance on the red brand.
Determined to make his swan song unforgettable, Cena opened the show with an emotional address to the ‘Big Apple’ crowd. Taking in the ovation, Cena reflected on how New York makes and breaks careers, thanking the city for shaping his journey. As he prepared to deliver the rest of his message, Dominik Mysterio stormed out to interrupt.
Dom dismissed Cena’s speech, accusing him of being handed opportunities, just like the previous week’s title shot, and demanded his own rematch for the Intercontinental Championship. After checking with the MSG crowd, he accepted Mysterio’s challenge for Survivor Series in San Diego.
But Cena added a twist: tonight, he wanted one more match for the fans. If the former champ had the guts, they could fight right then and there. Before Mysterio could answer, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh hit the ring. The Judgment Day members attacked Cena, beating him down, until Sheamus rushed in to even the odds.
Yet Sheamus was quickly overwhelmed as well until Rey Mysterio made a surprise appearance to save his son’s rival. With the sides now even, the babyface trio cleared the ring. Seizing the moment, Cena declared they would have a trios match immediately.
After the commercial break, Judgment Day controlled the action, isolating Sheamus before he created enough space to tag in Rey Mysterio. Rey rallied with his signature offense, but Dominik tripped him mid-springboard, allowing Balor to capitalize.
Cena finally received the hot tag, unleashing his trademark shoulder blocks, Blue Thunder Driver, and Five Knuckle Shuffle. McDonagh countered an Attitude Adjustment, leading to a rapid flurry from all six men. Judgment Day nearly stole the win with a sequence of a moonsault, Coup de Grace, and frog splash, but Sheamus and Rey broke the pin just in time.
The babyfaces regained control, delivering triple Beats of the Bodhrán, followed by synchronized “You can’t see me!” taunts. A double 619, a Brogue Kick from Sheamus, and an Attitude Adjustment from Cena sealed the victory. Cena, Mysterio, and Sheamus defeated Judgment Day, giving Cena a triumphant final Raw moment in front of the iconic MSG crowd.
CM Punk pays heartfelt tribute to John Cena after Raw in MSG goes off the air
CM Punk stole the spotlight after a chaotic episode of Monday Night Raw at MSG. The show ended in absolute turmoil as both men’s WarGames teams erupted into a massive brawl. In the closing moments, Brock Lesnar was unveiled as the fifth member of the heel squad alongside The Vision, Logan Paul, and Drew McIntyre.

Making his first WWE appearance since WrestlePalooza, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ immediately bulldozed through The Usos, Cody Rhodes, and Punk. But Lesnar’s dominance was short-lived. In a thunderous surprise, Roman Reigns appeared to declare himself as the final member of the babyface WarGames team.
‘The Tribal Chief’ blasted Lesnar with a Superman Punch, sending shockwaves through the Garden. Bronson Reed stepped up next, only to be speared clean through the barricade for his efforts. As the chaos spiraled, NYPD officers hit the ringside area to break up the carnage, with the fight spilling everywhere as Raw went off the air.
The heels eventually retreated, but the babyfaces remained. This led to a tense face-off between Reigns and Punk before the Samoan ace exited the arena. Once the dust settled, Punk grabbed the mic to close the night with emotion rather than violence. He led the crowd in a heartfelt tribute to John Cena, who made his final appearance on Monday Night Raw.
Punk requested Cena’s music be played one last time inside the iconic Madison Square Garden, giving the 17-time world champion a fitting farewell. Moreover, Punk had shared a touching photo on social media alongside Cena and Cody Rhodes last week, thanking Cena for the memories and the legacy he leaves behind.
The show was also notable for the returns of Gunther and Dolph Ziggler as part of the Last Time Is Now tournament, adding even more star power to an already stacked night. With only two appearances remaining for Cena, all eyes now turn to how he will perform against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series and in his final match on December 13th.
