On January 6, John Cena is set to commence his retirement tour, which will culminate by the end of the year. WWE’s “Greatest of All Time” will have the opportunity to rise into the sunset on his own accord, and fans are hoping for him to revisit some of his biggest hits. However, one of the rivalries he won’t likely be facing again is Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge.

Recently, the WWE Hall of Famer commented on Cena’s retirement tour and opined on his upcoming journey. While speaking with Screen Rant, Copeland revealed he hadn’t yet spoken to Cena about the retirement. Copeland recalled one of his last conversations with Cena, where the latter questioned him about his ability to wrestle in half-hour matches.

The Rated-R Superstar stated that Cena was an intelligent person who has likely come to terms with his decision. However, Copeland felt that the fans would have a hard time dealing with the sixteen-time world champion hanging his boots.

He’s an intelligent man, so, I’m sure he’s already come to terms, and I think he’s been coming to terms with it for a long time. I think it’ll be harder for the fan base to come to terms, which usually ends up being the case.

Despite their history, Copeland will most likely miss Cena’s retirement tour. In August 2023, the former WWE Champion seemingly wrestled his final match for the promotion. The Canadian star defeated Sheamus in his hometown of Toronto.

Months later, Adam Copeland joined rival promotion AEW, signing a multi-year deal. As a result, fans won’t be receiving one more match between Edge and John Cena. Regardless, there are still a litany of WWE stars waiting for a shot against The Cenation Leader.

Fans are under the belief that Cena will be entering the Royal Rumble match. As such, this would mark the beginning of his hunt for a seventeenth-world title win. According to reports, Cena’s quest for one more championship reign will be a focal point of his retirement tour.

PWInsider further fueled rumors by stating that a match between Cena and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship was on the cards for WrestleMania. Moreover, The Franchise Player has been considered an early favorite to win the Royal Rumble match and headline the Showcase of Immortals.
