The Harbaugh brothers are one of the OG duos in the history of the NFL. From becoming the first-ever brothers to face each other in the Super Bowl as coach to quietly celebrating each other’s success, Harbaugh brothers are the perfect sibling duo one would like to emulate.

In the wild history of playing together, growing up in one backyard, mirroring each other and following the same path, Jim and John have faced thrice in the big league.

On Thanksgiving in 2011, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers to record John’s first victory over Jim. The next meeting is the historic Super Bowl XLVII matchup – the first brothers to face each other in the final of any major American league – where John once again came out victorious.

Jim left for the University of Michigan after the Super bowl disappointment where he achieved huge success including leading the Wolverines to a national championship last year.

The Harbaugh Bowl took place once again in 2024 with Jim Harbaugh headlining the Los Angeles Chargers. John won once again. In a recent interview, Jim and John took it back to the old days before they took their roles on the sidelines.

John Harbaugh, who’s always there for his brother at all times, admitted that Jim was the better athlete among the two of them. In the short segment shared by ESPN, Jim expressed his opinions on what he thinks of John as a player.

Jim was one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League and I’ve said this many times.

Jim Harbaugh is one of the most celebrated athletes with 14 years in the field and a mention in the Indianapolis Colts HOF. He was selected 25th overall by the Chicago Bears in the 1987 NFL Draft. Over the course of his career, he started 140 of 177 games, amassing 26,288 passing yards and 129 touchdowns. In 1995, he led the NFL in passer rating, earning both Comeback Player of the Year honors and a Pro Bowl selection after guiding the Indianapolis Colts to an AFC Championship Game appearance.

On the other hand, John’s football journey included playing at a competitive level, though he never reached the NFL. Following the conclusion in his collegiate playing career, John was unable to advance to the NFL, prompting his transition into a coaching career.

Houston Texans ends Jim Harbaugh’s 2024-25 campaign

There won’t be a duel between the brothers once more this season. The Los Angeles Chargers coached by Jim Harbaugh was eliminated from the playoffs by the Houston Texans on Saturday. The other Harbaugh brother is set to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on the same day.

The Houston Texans’ defense delivered a stunning performance to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers and advance to the second week of the NFL playoffs. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who had been intercepted only three times throughout the 17-game regular season, was picked off four times on Saturday alone. The Texans overcame an early deficit to open Wildcard Weekend with a commanding 32-12 victory.

A defensive battle defined the first half in Houston, but the game came alive just before halftime when the Texans seized a 10-6 lead. In the third quarter, Houston’s defense intercepted Herbert on consecutive drives.

They returned the first for a touchdown to extend the lead to 20-6 and capitalizing on the second with a field goal. Although Los Angeles mounted a response, Joe Mixon sealed the win with a rushing touchdown, securing the Texans’ place in next week’s Divisional Round.
