American political activist Charlie Kirk, a staunch ally of Donald Trump, was shot dead at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10). Former tennis player John Isner mourned the death of Kirk and also criticized those who have been mocking the 31-year-old.
In videos that have been circulating on the internet, Kirk sat at his ‘Prove Me Wrong’ debating table. He could be heard addressing the crowd gathered there, debating with a person about mass shootings and transgender people.
Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?
That person asked him
As a response, Kirk said, “Counting or not counting gang violence?” and seconds later, a loud gunshot rang out. Kirk was shot in the neck and died shortly afterward.
If you’re not sick to your stomach with what happened in Utah today then you’re seriously fd in the head. Charlie spoke truth. His platform was about having civil conversations with those he didn’t agree with. For that, he was shot dead. 31 years old. Two young kids. Follower of Christ and Husband. RIP Charlie

Even Martina Navratilova condemned the murder. The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion is a staunch critic of Trump and the Republicans, but has voiced her disapproval of violence.
Political violence is never ok. This is an abhorrent act from an abhorrent individual. It is a sad day in many ways as this kind of stuff is way too common…

John Isner on Novak Djokovic’s defeat to Carlos Alcaraz
Novak Djokovic was no match for Carlos Alcaraz when they faced off in the semifinal of this year’s US Open. Alcaraz clinched the win as well as took his revenge on the 24-time Grand Slam champion, knocking him out in straight sets to reach his second Grand Slam final.

Djokovic lost in the Grand Slam semifinals for the fourth time this year. At the Australian Open, he gave the walkover to Alexander Zverev because of an injury, while at the French Open and Wimbledon, World No.2 Jannik Sinner knocked him out in straight sets. John Isner, during the Nothing Major podcast, said age is stopping the 38-year-old from defeating the top two players.
But I thought the two days off, he would, I thought, he might look a little bit fresher… He didn’t. But you know when you’re 38 and obviously your prime… He’s not immortal, but your prime is, you know, behind you, and then you’re playing against a 22-year-old whose prime is still ahead of him, and you’re down two sets to love. Like what are you, what are you to do out there on the court? Like, it’s even for the greatest player of all time.
The win helped Alcaraz improve his head-to-head record to 4-5. It was his first win over the Serb after two back-to-back defeats.
Djokovic clinched the gold medal after a pair of tough sets against Alcaraz at the Paris Olympics last year. The former World No.1 then stopped the six-time Grand Slam champion’s run at the Australian Open this year with a four-set win in the quarterfinals.
After eliminating the four-time US Open champion, the 22-year-old took his revenge on Sinner with a four-set win in the final, improving his head-to-head lead to 10-5. Djokovic is the last player other than them to win a Major, winning his 24th Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open by defeating Daniil Medvedev.
Since 2024, Alcaraz and Sinner have split the last eight Majors between them. This season, Sinner defended his Australian Open crown by beating Zverev, while Alcaraz beat Sinner in the French Open final but couldn’t repeat the same when they faced off in the Wimbledon final.
