John McEnroe defended Novak Djokovic after the Serbian has faced criticism following his controversial incident involving the fans at the Wimbledon Championships.
McEnroe said that he related with Djokovic when it came to dealing with the negativity from the fans. The 37-year-old was visibly upset by the behavior of some fans during his match against Holger Rune. Later, he lashed out at the crowd during his on-court interview and claimed that they were booing him during the contest.
John McEnroe has stated that Djokovic was being seen as Darth Vader, a lead villain in the science fiction franchise Star Wars. He also pointed out the stark contrast in reputation that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal‘s have gathered over the years.

Roger Federer also spoke about the same in his latest documentary “Federer: Twelve Final Days”. The Swiss mentro mentioned that Djokovic was misunderstood in tennis and that emerging at a time when the Federer-Nadal rivalry was flourishing did not help him.
Novak Djokovic slides into Wimbledon semifinals after Alex De Minaur withdrew
Novak Djokovic made it to the semifinals of Wimbledon after his quarterfinal opponent Alex De Minaur withdrew from their match. The Australian No.1 had suffered a nasty fall towards the end of his fourth-round match and it has resulted in him pulling out of the tournament.
Hours before his quarterfinal match, he announced that he was pulling out due to injury. It was unfortunate timing news for the Australian as he had worked hard to reach to reach the last right at a Major for just the third time in his career.
Djokovic will next take on either Taylor Fritz or Lorenzo Musetti. Additionally, he has equalled Roger Federer’s record of 13 appearances in the Wimbledon semifinals. If he goes all way at SW19 this week, he will also equal the Swiss maestro’s record of eight titles at the tournament.
