CJ Stroud had an unbelievable season last year. As a rookie, he surpassed all expectations by leading the Houston Texans to the playoffs. This year he and the Texans are poised to do much better, considering the talent they have added to their disposal. However, Stroud thinks it will be John Metchie III, who will have a breakout season after beating cancer last year.
The Texans’ 2nd-year quarterback was at the facilities after the OTAs. He was asked by the assembled media about John Metchie III‘s fantastic performances in practice.
As y'all can see man he's running some of the best routes I've ever seen. His lateral quickness, he's able to stop and start. He's one other person has been through a lot as well. You know, fighting cancer, then fighting an injury that he had in college. To last year battling playing time and injuries. As you can see man, he's making plays, he's showing up, and he's showing out. He's going to be very pivotal and important to this football team for a lot of games.CJ Stroud said
CJ Stroud had nothing but praise for Metchie III as he is showing out after fighting all the adversities. He echoed what the reporters have seen Metchie III doing in the OTAs.
John Metchie III missed his entire rookie NFL season as he battled leukemia. Then once he was cleared to play, he took to the field for the very first time last season. But a hamstring injury kept him from playing to his Alabama levels.
This season, Stroud feels the 3rd year wideout will have a breakout season. If what he has been doing on the practice field is any indication, that might be true.
CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans offense will be explosive
If last season was any indication, the Houston Texans should at the least be able to replicate their 10-7 record. However, it is easier said than done in the NFL where all teams look to improve. Therefore, the Texans decided to bolster their squad with weapons that could help their superstar quarterback.
Stefon Diggs is the name that pops into the mind when thinking about a weapon. The All-Pro receiver is just the assurance CJ Stroud needs in big-game situations. More importantly, the younger receivers can learn from the superstar wideout and improve their game. Now add to all this Joe Mixon, who has been one of the most consistently good running backs in the league, and the offense looks likely to explode.
Assuming all players stay reasonably healthy, the Houston Texans can bank on their offense to take them to the Super Bowl. Additions to the defense reinforce that thought.
