Johnny Gargano is one of the most beloved superstars in WWE. The 37-year-old received one of the loudest reactions from the crowd during his 2022 return. The superstar returned to Raw after a nine-month absence, which is one of the hottest returns in the past few years. He recently revealed his thought process right before the return and his texts to his tag team partner, Tommaso Ciampa.
Gargano recently penned a heartfelt message on X on the two-year anniversary of his shocking return to WWE. The modern wrestling world is full of journalists and social media leaks. Thus, it is incredibly hard to maintain secrets and surprises in today’s world. However, the former NXT Champion’s return was perfectly executed.
Gargano also shared a screenshot of his texts with Tommaso Ciampa, who was equally surprised that the news of his return did not leak. The Blackheart joked that he was going to post the news prior to his return and ruin the surprise for everyone.

Gargano’s contract with WWE came to an end in December 2021 when the 37-year-old decided not to renew it. Thus, no one was expecting him to come out during that episode. Since then, he has been a regular member of the WWE roster.
He re-formed #DIY on the main roster alongside Ciampa, and the two even won the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown. Although they lost the championship to The Bloodline, the tag team will be looking to challenge the Samoan faction soon and regain their belts.
Johnny Gargano reveals he wants to re-unite The Way on the main roster
Now that #DIY’s momentum has been halted by The Bloodline, Johnny Gargano may be looking to gather more back-up from his days in NXT. Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, he talked about getting back together with his old faction, The Way.
The Way was a faction in NXT that comprised Johnny Wrestling, his wife Candice LeRae, her tag team partner, Indi Hartwell, as well as Austin Theory and Dexter Lumis. The former WWE Tag Team Champion said that he would never say no to a reunion of this group. He revealed that the faction was named so because he liked to do things like ‘The Gargano Way.’
His time in The Way was something he looked back on very fondly. Doing so on the main roster would be an incredible feat. Although Austin Theory and Dexter Lumis are busy with their own storylines at the moment, Hartwell and LeRae feel severely directionless. Hence, getting them back together with him could be a highly interesting storyline.
