Tragedies rattle one from the inside. And going by what hit the Gargano family is rather disheartening. Addressing the viral photo of a dilapidated structure around Cleveland that’s been making the rounds since morning, Johnny Gargano has now shared an update on what’s up. The reigning one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions confirmed that the razed building was, in fact, his father’s restaurant.
However, yesterday, it caught fire and was badly damaged. The long-standing fine-dining restaurant used to be where Gargano basically grew up. Moreover, his dad had been running it for the past 50 years. Fortunately, Papa Gargano, 82, wasn’t at work when the building caught fire. Johnny Gargano further continued, saying that his family is extremely distraught over what has transpired.
One can send nothing but love towards the subdued family. Since this year’s SummerSlam is in Cleveland itself, the DIY member was hoping for his fans to stop by his dad’s restaurant during that weekend. However, it wasn’t meant to be. Following the major setback, Johnny’s well-wishers would be manifesting for him to compete at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
He’s currently holding the tag team gold with long-term partner Tommaso Ciampa. The duo ousted Austin Theory and Grayson Waller for the doubles silverware a few weeks ago on SmackDown. However, there’s no rest for the weary, as DIY has their next challengers on hand.
On the already-taped blue brand episode next week, the fans will see Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu emerge as the No. 1 contenders for the tag team straps. There’s a glimmer of hope that this title showdown might find a place on the SummerSlam card.
Does DIY have what it takes to combat The Bloodline on WWE SmackDown?
Now that the DIY already knows what they’re up against in the near future, they have some time to regroup. A couple of weeks ago, both Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were manhandled by Jacob Fatu.
Neither of the tag champs stood a chance against The Bloodline‘s enforcer. Was that a premonition of what lies ahead? At least the DIY fans will hope not. But the babyfaces are up against a menacing duo of Tonga and Fatu.
Be it Tama or Jacob, they can be extremely detrimental to the fan-favorite duo’s chances of keeping their gold intact. Nonetheless, it’s an exciting prospect to see these teams go at each other. They haven’t sparred yet, and hence, it would make for an unpredictable matchup.
