NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew tragically passed away on Thursday night, a day before their sister Katie’s wedding. Their family, friends, and the NHL world are still shaken by the news of their sudden death.

In recent reports, the alleged man who drunk drove into them, let out an exasperated sigh when the judge ruled that Sean Higgins was to be behind bars until Monday. His next detention hearing is on September 5.

The incident took place when Johnny and Matthew were biking down in southern New Jersey when a car pulled over them in Oldmans Township. According to the police investigation, Sean admitted to being “five to six” bottles down.

The driver Sean, tried to surpass an SUV that came in front of him after the SUV tried to safely pass by the brothers on the road. Tragically, under the influence of alcohol, Sean rammed into the brothers from behind at 8 p.m. on County Route 551, according to multiple reports.

Sean was arrested on the charge of two deaths. Both brothers were pronounced dead at the scene. The NHL community offered their condolences to the family and friends. Even the New York Yankees posted a statement on the loss of ‘Johnny Hockey’ and his brother Matthew.

Unfortunately, the alleged killer did not show any signs of remorse as he questioned the judge, “So…I’m here until Thursday?” He was told not to talk to anyone in jail about this case and was given permission to seek help from a lawyer through police help or family.

He remained expressionless during the whole trial, as reported by Jack Morphet and Olivia Land of the NY Post. No family members were seen during the trial, and he was represented by Cody Dooley, a public defender.

Johnny Gaudreau received the nickname ‘Johnny Hockey’ for his infectious personality and love for all. His own style of play earned him several titles during his hockey career. Since his 2011 NHL debut, he played with the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets.

His brother Matthew played with the New York Islanders. In a tragic news update, it was revealed that his wife Madeline was pregnant, and the duo was about to welcome their first small member in December.

With Johnny Gaudreau’s passing, he left behind his family, wife Meredith, and two kids Noa, and Johnny at 31. The entire community of friends, associates, fans, and everyone is standing by them to be strong and overcome this hurricane that fell to the Gaudreau family.

Their sister Katie was supposed to get married to hockey player Devin Joyce in Gloucester City, NJ. The wedding was called off, as the family struggled to get through this tough time of losing their sons, cousins, friends, and teammates in the world.
