Jon Anik will always have Joe Rogan’s back against criticism: “He will outlast me”
Jon Anik has again gone on to defend Joe Rogan once again against the criticism the veteran commentator/comedian has been receiving. Anik and Joe have been a huge part of the broadcast team and have commentated side by side. Both the icons will be present at the same commentary table at UFC 261.
Over the last few months, fans have been very critical about Joe Rogan’s commitment to the UFC and sports world. Joe has his own podcast that streams on spotify and he also is an iconic commentator at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has been with the UFC for over 20 years and in the commentary booth for over a decade.
Jon Anik who will be paired alongside Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier on UFC 261 was asked about Joe Rogan and his lasting in the promotion. It was no shock that he right away began to defend his colleague and had his back. Anik believes that Rogan is not going anywhere.
“It feels much bigger when he’s there, there’s no doubt about it,” Anik told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Friday following UFC 261 official weigh-ins. “He brings a special dynamic to our broadcast booth that I’m not really sure anybody else can bring. There are a lot of these guys that are comedic, but he is the total package. There’s no doubt about it. I think he’s going to outlast me, though,” said Jon Anik.
Jon Anik and his team will be sitting in the same table after almost a year of isolation
Jon Anik firmly believes that Joe Rogan might outlast him in the commentary business. “There are rumblings, ‘Oh, Rogan’s got one foot out the door.’ He’s doing our domestic pay-per-views right now. He hasn’t travelled internationally as long as I’ve been doing the pay-per-views, but I don’t think he’s going anywhere. That’s not informed speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he outlasts me, to be honest with you,” says Jon Anik.
Jon Anik is really excited about getting back and sitting together with Joe Rogan and Cormier after a year of sitting in separate booths. “I think that’s the most exciting thing for me is to be able to have my broadcast partners right there,” Anik said. “If I need to get a promo in, I can actually tough Joe Rogan’s arm instead of having to rely on the truck to cut their mics or get them to lay out.”
