The rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is still going strong despite the both of them not competing anymore. A pre-recorded interview of Jones recently hit the internet, and ‘DC’ was left infuriated by the claims made by the longest reigning UFC light heavyweight champion in history.
Cormier retired in 2020 after losing in a trilogy bout against heavyweight legend, Stipe Miocic. Meanwhile, Jones retired after defeating Miocic in 2024. Since then, both of them appeared on ALF Global’s ‘Alf Reality’ series as opposing coaches.
Their involvement was successful as each episodes garnered more than a million views on YouTube. Recently, Jones’ interview with ALF Global showcased the UFC GOAT candidate making claims about DC having said why he cannot act friendly with ‘Bones’ in front of the cameras.
One time we were sitting down on the couch together and I said, ‘Isn’t this nice for us to just sit here, no problems, just enjoying the moment?’ He goes, ‘Yeah this is nice, but Jon being your enemy has made me too much money over the years. So even though I have no problem with you, when the cameras turn on I can never be your friend in front of people.’

The Albuquerque native didn’t stop there. He went on to theorize why DC cannot see him as a favorite person. Jones indirectly brought up UFC losses as a major reason.
There’s probably another side inside of him where I’ll never be his favorite person because I beat him in a time where he was considered one of the greatest fighters on the planet. I’m the one person that has come between him and being considered one of the greatest fighters ever. Myself and I guess Stipe Miocic.

There is some truth to the second statement made by Jones although it has been blown out of proportions. By 2018, Cormier was among the GOAT candidates as his only loss at that time came at the hands of Jones.
Jones had a history of failed drug tests and out-of-cage controversies that prevented him from becoming the consensus GOAT of MMA. However, losses to Stipe Miocic in 2019 and 2020 took Cormier out of the GOAT discussions forever.
Later, Jones won the UFC heavyweight title to become a double-champion and cement his legacy as the GOAT for many MMA fans and fighters. Though ‘DC’ does not disagree with Jones’ accomplishments, he disagreed with what his rival said in the interview.
Daniel Cormier accuse Jon Jones of lying during the ALF Global interview
Former two-division champion Daniel Cormier is known for being cordial with MMA fighters from around the world. Majority of the fighters respect the UFC commentator and share a good relationship with him. With that said, he still cannot stand Jon Jones whenever ‘Bones’ blows things out of proportions.

During the filming of the Alf Reality series, DC appeared calm and took shots at Jones here and there. He also admitted to not having problems in being around Jones for filming, considering both of them have retired. However, Cormier didn’t like Jones making up conversations inside his head during the recent podcast interview.
That just didn’t happen. This is not a conversation that Jon and I had. Hey, have I made a lot of money because Jon Jones and I have been on the wrong side of each other? Yes, and so did Muhammad Ali with Joe Frazier…so did Khabib with Conor McGregor… It’s not what it used to be. We can operate around each other. That doesn’t mean I am forgiving all the wrongdoings or I forget all the things we said.

It remains to be seen be seen if Jon Jones react to the comments made by his most heated rival. A wrestling bout was rumored to be in the works between them both, but so far has yet to materialize. As such, it looks like their fighting days remain behind them despite their mind games reminiscing fans about their glory days.
