The MMA world is buzzing with speculation as the White House event approaches, one that promises to bring high-profile fighters into the spotlight. Fans and insiders alike are weighing in on which athletes should be featured, sparking debates over merit, reputation, and spectacle. However, Daniel Cormier recently asked CEO Dana White to allow former rival Jon Jones to fight on the historic event.
Jones has been a trailblazer in the MMA community since his debut in the UFC back in 2008. He dominated the light heavyweight division and defeated the best of the best, including the likes of Quinton Jackson, Alexander Gustafsson, and Vitor Belfort. However, his career has also been tarnished by controversy, and his refusal to compete actively later in his career has left fans disappointed.
The relationship between Cormier and Jones has been rocky. Since their last fight in 2017, the two have frequently exchanged insults and held differing opinions. However, there have also been moments of mutual respect between the former rivals. Cormier recently vouched for Jones to be part of the UFC White House event after ‘Bones’ was snubbed by White.
Dana seems like he’s not going to back down and allow for [Jon Jones] to be on a White House card. I don’t know if I agree. If he wants to fight, then I would let him fight. At the end of the day, we’re fighting at the White House. You want American fighters who can win. Put some things in his contract that makes it very costly to not follow through.

White was known to be biased towards the former double champion during his illustrious career and gave him the “Dana White privilege” multiple times. However, his recent refusal to fight the current heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, during his time as heavyweight kingpin left a bad taste in the CEO’s memory. White revealed that he wants bankable fighters for the UFC White House event.
Jones returned to the Octagon in 2023 after a three-year hiatus from the sport. He defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 to win the heavyweight championship. However, his final outing was at UFC 309 when he defeated Stipe Miocic in his first and last title defence. Jones was expected to fight Aspinall next, but announced his retirement from the sport.
In a shocking turn, his retirement was short-lived as he revealed that he was back in the testing pool after the White House event announcement. Ultimately, whether Jon Jones will fight on the White House card remains uncertain, but Cormier’s stance has already reignited interest in the upcoming event.
Fans react to Daniel Cormier asking Dana White to let Jon Jones fight at UFC White House
Speculation surrounding the White House card has fans discussing it across social media, with opinions ranging from excitement to skepticism. Many are debating which fighters truly deserve a spot, and some voices have quickly turned to the idea of Jon Jones competing.

Fans are hesitant, concerned about the implications of featuring a controversial figure. They feel that the event’s prestige and public image could be affected, and that careful consideration should be given to which fighters are showcased. While some fans argue that Jones has been irresponsible throughout his career, they agree with DC’s idea of adding stricter restrictions to his contract. Here are some fan reactions:
I agree with DC. The greatest fighter of all time is alive, healthy, and American. A good promoter would do whatever it takes to get him on that card.

when i said DC is respecting JOHN, i got attacked. Despite the trash talk btw them long time ago, they respect each other and wish to be close friends.. i will not be surprized if they do so

Not a a bad idea. That card is going to be stacked anyways. There should also be a couple of belts on the line.

Jon Jones should only be allowed to fight on the White House card if he takes a contender matchup first

DC is spitting. @danawhite I believe @dc_mma is right here. Jon Jones is the biggest American mma star we have currently in the testing pool. If he really wants it, you know the fight to make. 😎👊🏽

The contract part DC mentioned at the end would help ensure it happens. 🙏🏽
I agree, i would let him fight but with a well thought plan B fight.

Incase, jon jones messes around. Which i’m sure he won’t since it’s his literally the biggest fight of his entire career.
That’s a solid point, it makes me wonder how tight the other contracts at that event must be. Probably so restrictive that even the wrong facial expression could get you tossed out.

They just need to give Jon an assistant thru camp to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid. Outside of being arrested I don’t think he would have any problem showing up

As the White House card approaches, the debate over fighter selection remains a topic of intense interest within the MMA community. Whether Jon Jones ultimately steps into the cage or not, the discussions around talent, legacy, and reputation have already added an extra layer of intrigue to the event.
