Despite not fighting for over a year, Jon Jones has remained in the spotlight recently for various reasons. A shocking chat was recently leaked by an overzealous fan. He revealed that the UFC legend Jon Jones will earn a whopping $15 million for his upcoming bout against Stipe Miocic. Moreover, the chat also displayed Jones talking about his retirement.
The candid details came from a direct conversation that Jon Jones had with the fan. Jones also indicated his desire to retire after the legacy fight with Stipe Miocic. As such, fans can expect him to not fight Tom Aspinall. The fan clearly couldn’t resist spilling the juicy beans all over social media. As such, one of MMA’s biggest secrets came out in the open.
I've already agreed to make $15 million for my next fight.. hell yeah bro. I'm about to beat up this old man. And right off into the sunset. Hope you enjoy watching Will.Jon Jones via Instagram message
Jones spilled the beans on his upcoming fight against Stipe Miocic. Retirement rumors have surfaced about Jones ever since he won the title in early 2023. The text messages between the fan and Jones further confirm his upcoming bout as the final one. Jones will likely aim to secure a title defense in the heavyweight division before retiring.
The fan posted multiple of these screenshots in the comment section of The MMA Guru’s X account. He also posted a screen recording that further solidified that this was a true chat and not made up. Neither Jon Jones nor the UFC have commented on this yet. Nevertheless, Jones will only retire if he wins. As such, anything can happen until Jones’ next bout.
Tom Aspinall accuses Jon Jones of ‘playing games’
UFC Interim heavyweight Tom Aspinall recently accused the heavyweight king of ducking him. According to the Brit, Jones purposely avoided a fight by choosing to face aging veteran Stipe Miocic instead. This presented a conundrum as Aspinall now defends his interim belt.
Tom Aspinall revealed that he had talked privately and publicly with Jones on social media. He revealed that there was nothing else he could do to entice Jones to fight him. The Englishman seemed convinced that Jones was purposely avoiding his heavy hands. Aspinall felt that Jones was ‘playing games.’
Well, I've made it pretty clear that I want to fight Jones. I'm not gonna start acting like someone that I'm not. Do you know what I mean? I spoke to Jon Jones online, spoke to Jon Jones privately, spoke to Jon Jones personally. Publicly. There's not a lot more that I can do. Jon Jones is playing games. He doesn't want the fight.Tom Aspinall via his YouTube channel
The unfiltered comments came as Aspinall prepares to defend his interim heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. This is an odd situation as usually, the interim champion fights the reigning champion for the title unification. If Jones retires after defeating Miocic, then, the winner of Aspinall vs. Blaydes might receive a promotion to undisputed champion.
