Ex-UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has two significant court dates forthcoming that pertain to the same legal matter. He was accused of leaving the scene of a vehicular accident in February. This would put a further dent to his White House PPV card dreams that’s planned for the next year.

According to the court’s records, Jones is scheduled to undergo a bench trial on August 14, predicated on the charge of evasion of the scene of an accident, an infraction. Albuquerque PD found the conditions of his vehicular misdemeanor to be highly salacious, with a woman naked from the waist-down in the car. On questioning, she named ‘UFC Fighter’ Jon Jones as the one driving.

To top it off, when she handed over the phone, ‘Bones,’ at the other end, threatened the PSA agents on call. The second judicial hearing is thus scheduled for September 2, and that is also predicated on a charge of evasion of the scene of an accident. Along with a secondary charge for the misuse of a telephone to instill fear, and/or intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy, or offend — another misdemeanor.

The initial police report indicated that the individual on the telephone declined to corroborate the claim that the person in question was Jones. He later claimed that the person speaking to him on the call “immediately opened the conversation” with unprofessional lingo.

This forced him to question the legitimacy of the caller’s claim to be involved with law enforcement when authorities got in contact with him at a later date. Jones claimed that’s where the hostility stemmed from, not some threats.

His litigator, Christopher Dodd, filed to dismiss the second case due to the duplicate charges against which he feels are based on prejudicial optics and grounds. Jones made (alleged) violent threats at DFSI drug test pool agent Crystal Martinez in a Bernalillo County (New Mexico) court arraignment. Dodd was involved in the matter and provided closed-circuit footage of them leaving his property peacefully.

With the UFC fighter involved in multiple DUIs, illegal run-ins, and such, in his representation, Dodd has felt that it blemishes the optics on Bones. However, a judge has yet to rule otherwise, and the second bench trial goes on for now. Already snubbed from the America 250 July 4th White House card due to his unreliability, this just proves why, if the trial lingers.

Jon Jones victim to false fight claims despite break from MMA

Jones is widely regarded as arguably the greatest fighter of all time, but his career remains tarnished by legal issues, including several arrests over the years. Just this July 24th, he had a legal hearing at a Metropolitan Court, stemming from claims of an ‘indecent act’ against a male commissioner.

From hit and runs to domestic abuse charges, estrogen blockers, and even anabolic PEDs, Bones has been in a heap of trouble far too long. Many supporters and MMA voices admit that it’s a tale as old as time, which thus puts him out of active contention at prime places like the White House South Lawn.

Jon Jones is a contentious figure, and it’s high risk to base a PPV title booking solely around him if he keeps falling into legal troubles. That much is true; what (probably) isn’t true is that the GOAT candidate was “taken down” by ALF head Alfredo Auditore during a friendly tuck and roll. Per the Red Corner MMA X account, that is what happened in a sparring session while he was in Moscow recently.

Enter Chael Sonnen, not all heroes wear capes. Some run their shows and protect the contentious figures from misinformation hazards. Even recently, while he did react wildly to it at first, Sonnen defended Conor McGregor’s unsolicited nude scandal, saying his facial twitches were all AI. Now, MMA’s ‘Bad Guy’ defends Jones:

Whoever the editor is for this [Red Corner], to not know that Jon is the one that scored the takedown…coz they even put up a caption.  ‘Alfredo gave his back up shortly after’. But it also says prior to that “Alfredo, ALF boss, takes Jon Jones down”…He didn’t take [him] down…That is fiction. He did not take Jon Jones down at all. He was taken down by Jon Jones.

The video segment presents a brief physical altercation between the two gentlemen, characterized by a degree of light-handed grappling. A close-handed trip comes in from Auditore (the takedown in question), then what looks to be a modified far-side knee tap/ankle pick is attempted. But Jones’ immediate defense was to spin to his back and lock-in with a hold of his own. Further than that, it’s a usual Jones performance ending dominantly.
