In a major move for the 2025 season, the DP World Tour has reinstated several of its former members. As per reports, some LIV golfers such as Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia who resigned from their membership to play on the 54-hole circuit, are said to have got it back for next year.

According to Matt Chivers, golfers like Rahm, Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton, Adrian Meronk, Dean Burmester, Joaquin Niemann, Thomas Pieters, Patrick Reed, and Lucas Herbert have all been reinstated by the European Tour. A reason for this could be due to the likely golf merger.

However, stars like Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Cameron Smith have not been granted this status yet. All of these players who left the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour were inflicted huge fines.

Rahm had openly declined to pay the fine. However, he later appealed the decision which allowed him to play in events this year. He went on to make four appearances, the minimum number required to keep his membership active for the 2025 season.

As for Garcia, he had been looking for such an opportunity. The Spanish international recently once again spoke about his desire to play in the Ryder Cup and admitted that he had talks with the European Tour regarding this matter.

This move will make Garcia eligible for the biennial event set to take place next year at Bethpage. He can either qualify directly through his performances next year or could be picked by Luke Donald as one of the captain picks.

As per Andy Roberts, the 44-year-old revealed that he will need to serve a suspension of nine weeks. Despite this, he was “really happy” and “excited” to be back on the DP World Tour.

Yeah, it’s all confirmed, I am a member of the DP World Tour again so very happy about it. I’m really excited to be back being part of the DP World Tour and excited to play a few events next year, support the Tour and obviously have the possibility of being eligible for the Ryder Cup. It’s now just time to play good golf and do some nice things.

Sergio Garcia said, as per GolfMagic

The Fireballs GC Captain is reported to have amassed a fine of over $1 million following his switch to LIV Golf. He last played in a DP World Tour event in September 2022. That was the BMW PGA Championship where he withdrew from the event after firing a score of 76 in the first round.
