As the gymnastics G.O.A.T Simone Biles earned her first gold at the Paris Olympics and her eighth Olympic medal this week, her husband and Chicago Bears’ newly-signed safety Jonathan Owens flew to the City of Love to support her. As much as fans loved this grand gesture, he ended up being roasted because of one social media post. 

The relationship that started during the COVID-19 pandemic is considered one of the most loved couples in the country. However, the NFL safety seems to have lost the respect of some fans as they called him out for wearing Biles’ gold medal.

Filled with pride, Owens shared a post on Instagram on Wednesday, where he can be seen posing next to the legendary gymnast and his wife in one and kissing her in the next slide. But what caught everyone’s attention was Biles’ hard-earned gold medal which she won in Women’s Artistic Team All-Around at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Despite showing Biles immense support and prioritizing her above everything in his life– even his career that he signed to a new team just so he can support her by visiting the Olympics, fans are not impressed with Owens.

Fans react to Jonathan Owens posing with his wife’s gold medal

Fans didn’t hold back from slamming the NFL player when he posed wearing her gold medal. One fan wrote, “Where is your PR team? Take her medal off of your neck! You didn’t win that.” 

Another questioned his audacity, writing “You do realize that is not your medal… right? This is giving military wife vibes,” receiving nearly 1,500 likes. 

Fans slammed Owens in regards to his recent trade to the Bear, claiming if he had put in half of the effort his wife does in gymnastics, he wouldn’t have gotten traded and also built a name for himself in the league. Some joked saying, “Now you know who is She, right?” in reference to his old interview on the Pivot podcast, where he said he wasn’t aware who Biles was before he started talking to her. 

Nevertheless, at the end of the day, Biles and Owens have been together for well over 4 years, and the NFL star flaunting his wife’s medals might not be that deep, in retrospect.
