Animosity is a common element in any form of sports. Some players use it to fuel their competitive drive. Some use it to try and play mental games with their opponents. That said, there are some that openly talk about their likes or dislikes for a particular place, which may house an opponent. In this case, Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith and his take on anything related to the Buffalo Bills.
The 7-year veteran was on The Dive Bar Podcast. There, he was asked about the benefits of being in Miami compared to some of the cold weather franchises such as Buffalo.
That’s why the fans be hating so much because they want to be down here (in Miami). You ever went to Buffalo? Oh, my gosh, man. I don’t know how those dudes do it. Going from anywhere in the country, man, and going into Buffalo. It got to be the worst place you could be. And the Buffalo wings ain't even any good. I'm throwing all types of shots at Buffalo.Jonnu Smith said
Smith feels the people of Buffalo are unhappy with their situation. Which is why they hate other teams so much. Especially the Bills fans, who are notorious for being volatile towards opposing teams. He might have a point though. as fans of the Buffalo Bills, known as the Bills Mafia, make the environment extremely volatile. This is why many teams have to learn to shut out the noise when they head into the stadium to play the Bills.
Jonnu Smith believes Buffalo Bills fans want to be in warmer climates like that of Miami. A place where one is surrounded by good people, food, and culture. To add to all that, there is no tax on income. Making people comparatively richer than those in Buffalo, New York.
Jonnu Smith brings unique skill to the Miami Dolphins’ offense
The Miami Dolphins offense is no doubt the most feared in the NFL. The mere thought of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Odell Beckham Jr. already makes it difficult for opposing defenses. Then add in their speedy running backs. A stout offensive line, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has a penchant for making accurate passes.
So, where Jonnu Smith fits in, is with his ability to separate for a catch. He may not burn the gridiron the same way his teammates will. But he uses his physicality to separate in short distances. That will give ample options to keep the ball moving in case their 3 superstar receivers are held in tight coverage.
All that will be put to the test as the season progresses. However, the Dolphins face the Bills in week 2 at home. Jonnu Smith might not have had to worry about them at that time. But on the trip to Buffalo in week 9, he will have to be ready for the smoke that will be sent his way after what he has just said.
