Joe Burrow and Jordan Battle have been teammates for nearly two years, but the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback won’t be happy with a young safety making amateurish mistakes during a crucial game. If the Bengals did not had a big lead, then Battle’s carelessness might have come back to haunt the team.

In the third quarter, right after the Tennessee Titans replaced QB Will Levis for throwing three turnovers and a pick-six. Mason Rudolph took Levis’ place under the center, and three minutes later he handed the ball to running back Tony Pollard.

Bengals defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson barged through the Titans offensive line and got to Pollard, who fumbled the ball, and Jordan Battle picked it up. Despite the best efforts of Rudolph, who chased Battle down, the 2023’s third-round pick evaded him and ran straight to the end zone.

Football fans shocked after Jordan Battle fumbling the ball before redzone

The Bengals fans thought the defense snagged their second pick-six of the game, but just before entering the Titans’ red zone, Battle lost the ball. Initially, the TV crew and the referee signaled it as a touchdown, but after a lengthy review, the officials concluded that the 24-year-old let go of the ball before scoring the touchdown.

It cost the Bengals valuable six points. Fans on social media had to rub their eyes several times to realize what had happened.

Before Battle’s fumble, Joe Burrow threw three touchdowns, and after the play, he set up running back Chase Brown for a walk-in touchdown in garbage time to increase the gap to sixteen points.

The Titans fought back and added multiple touchdowns. First Rudolph set off Tyjae Spears
for a 17-yard touchdown and then threw a 13-yard floater to Josh Whyle in the final moments. Even though the two scores reduced the deficit, they weren’t enough to secure a win.

Joe Burrow ended the day with 26 completions from 37 attempts for 271 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase caught 9 passes for 94 yards, while Tee Higgins had 5 for 88 and one touchdown. Chase Brown rushed 25 times for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Before being taken off, Levis threw 8 completions for 89 yards and 3 picks. Rudolph had 21 completions from 26 attempts for 209 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Pollard ran 17 times with the ball for 45 yards and scored one touchdown. The game ended 37-27, and the Bengals improved their record to 6-8.
