The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to wear their throwback jerseys during Aaron Rodgers‘ reunion with his former protege, Jordan Love. The Steelers chose this occasion to pay tribute to the 1933 team and the rich legacy of the City of Pittsburgh.
Love spent three years learning the titbits of being an NFL quarterback from watching Rodgers at Green Bay. He took over as the Packers quarterback in 2023 after Rodgers left to play for the New York Jets.
The week 8 clash between the Packers and the Steelers will mark the first meeting between Love and Rodgers. Speaking with TMJ4’s Ashley Washburn, Rodgers revealed that he’s looking forward to owning a Jordan Love jersey at the end of the game.
[The Green Bay] Packers have always been a little weird about swapping [jerseys] — don’t know what the policy is — but if there is one, it would be Jordan Love.

Aaron Rodgers on whether or not he will be swapping jerseys postgame.#Packers | #Steelers
Love is also keen on swapping jerseys with the future Hall of Famer. However, his statement sounded like he’s not a fan of the Steelers’ throwback uniforms.
I would love to swap jerseys with him. But who knows? They’re breaking out those throwback jerseys out. We’ll see. I like to hold onto mine, so I’ll see what he wants to do. But I need one — For sure.

Love shares the same view as thousands of football fans across the country about the aesthetics of the 1933 throwbacks.
Love with all of us on how god awful those jerseys are lmao

I think I like the gold helmets with white jerseys and black pants the #Steelers offense was wearing at practice today better than the uniforms they're wearing Sunday. pic.twitter.com/qt6i98AlkJ

Even a few Steelers players aren’t too thrilled about the jerseys. When asked to point out the best features of the throwbacks, tight end Pat Freiermuth said this. (HT/Steelers official transcript)
“The yellow helmet is sweet… We’ve worn black helmets since I’ve been here, and well before that, and just switching it up to a new helmet I love.”
I would say the helmet is my favorite part of it. That yellow matte helmet is just sick. I think it’s a cool new look.
Linebacker Alex Highsmith added.
Clearly, there’s a theme here. It’s not a good look for the organization when the players admire the “sick” yellow helmets, rather than the jerseys themselves.
Aaron Rodgers wants to retire as a Packer
Rodgers is 41 and in the twilight of his career. He signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, which ends after the 2025-26 season.

There are rumors that the Steelers could entice Rodgers to continue as their quarterback until they settle on a future franchise star, rather than hanging up his cleats for good. Only time will reveal the answers, but fans can expect the Super Bowl winner to wear the Packers jersey one more time.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Aaron Rodgers revealed that he plans to sign a one-day contract with the Packers and retire as their quarterback.
I was there for 18 years. Regardless of when I hang it up, that’s the bulk of my career. I’ll retire a Packer and see what happens after that.
