Ex-Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano talked about how the front office should definitely get the deal done with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before it’s too late. He believes the first baseman should get what he deserves after reports of him rejecting $340 million + emerged on social media.
MLB insider Mike Rodriguez reported how Guerrero apparently rejected an offer surpassing $340 million from the team. Whether his rejection is a form of Juan Soto’s $765 million effect or his desire for the team to bring back Teoscar Hernandez is unknown.
Jordan Romano expresses that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the best hitter he’s ever played with and it’s not even close. He further delves into Double-A plays, where Guerrero showed off his extraordinary skills as a first baseman.
Romano feels the Blue Jays either have to get the deal done right or look for trade options. Among the teams interested in the baseman is the Boston Red Sox. Others are also on the lookout for a big hitter after Soto’s signing with the Mets.

Last month, Jordan Romano ended up taking the Philadelphia Phillies offer for 1-year $7.75 million after he got non-tendered by the Blue Jays. What direction the team will take on Guerrero is yet to be seen, but if they fail to re-sign him, it’ll leave a huge hole in the lineup.
Is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. trying to bring back Teoscar Hernandez?
Whether Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is trying to bring back Teoscar Hernandez to the Toronto Blue Jays is still unknown. After Hernandez had joined free agency, he became adamant about signing a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
However, the hold-up seems to come from the LA side. The fans have continuously been calling out the Dodgers’ front office to sign Hernandez. How the Dodgers would react is to be seen.
Furthermore, after the high-end signing of both free agents Juan Soto and Max Fried, Teoscar Hernandez might command a $80 million deal rather than sign for two to three years. He’s looking to stay with a team for at least four years and long instead of dealing for one year, like in 2024.
