Aaron Rodgers has never shied himself away from the spotlight; in fact, his outspoken nature often propels him into it. However, lately, the narrative surrounding the veteran quarterback has taken a negative turn following his departure from the New York Jets. Amid the growing scrutiny over his legacy and future in the league, Jordan Travis, drafted by the Jets in 2024, has come under his defense.
TMZ recently caught Rodgers coming out of a training session in Southern California. Seizing the opportunity, they asked the soon-to-be free agent about the things he was looking for in his new team. He responded with two things, one of which reflected the uncertainly hovering over his head as he approached free agency while dealing with scrutiny regarding whether he had surpassed his prime.
“If they want you,” responded Rodgers, via Ari Meirov. “And if they’ve got a good team.” Though joining a good team certainly remains on his mind, Rodgers doesn’t seem to have much hope regarding his future. The two-season failure in New York may have tainted the legacy he built in the Green Bay Packers among the elite quarterbacks.
However, Travis– who spent a season under the four-time NFL MVP as starting quarterback, expressed his admiration for him. “8 [Aaron Rodgers’ jersey number] is a great person. The narrative is crazy,” wrote Travis, retweeting Meirov’s post on Rodgers’ interaction with TMZ.

Before retirement, Rodgers wants to compete in the championship however, given the failure of the last two seasons with the Jets, he may have a hard time finding a team good enough to contend and interested in him.
Tyrod Taylor expresses respect for Aaron Rodgers while emphasizing team’s new vision
Travis isn’t the only player from the Jets roster to speak in favor of the Super Bowl champion. While discussing the recent move in a conversation with Newsweek’s James Brizuela, Tyrod Taylor expressed the sheer respect he holds for Rodgers.

I have nothing but respect for Aaron, he is one of my good friends in this league, and we have only known each other for a year closely. I have nothing but respect for him. He is as talented as it gets, and as stand-up of a person as it gets.
Tyrod Taylor said
He also dismissed the notion that the Jets’ decision to move forward without Rodgers reflects on the quarterback’s abilities. Instead, he emphasized that the team simply had a different vision under the new coaching regime, and both parties felt it was the right choice to part ways.
