Jorge Masvidal is set to face the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a title rematch, last time these two fought at UFC 251 their fight sold 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, and now Masvidal speaks up about the unfair cut the fighters get from these events.

In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Masvidal said, “I tell you what, if I had taken that first original deal, off that 1.3 [million PPV buys], I would have got table scraps. It’s just not fair. I say this for me, not just for me but all my brothers and sisters that are like, ‘Oh I finally got to pay-per-view’… It’s not what you think.”

Jon Jones is another fighter who is in a war against UFC for the better pay grade, but Masvidal thinks the entire pay-per-view model needs to change, and then the fighters would earn what they rightfully deserve.

In the same interview he pointed out the earnings of a boxer compared to that of a UFC fighter he said, “The UFC have to open those doors, they have to start giving bigger margins to guys that are bringing in the pay-per-view,”

Masvidal added, “The UFC always say, ‘Well look at an undercard boxer makes compared to our opening card guys’. Yeah, okay, got it. The opening card guy in the UFC makes a lot more than the boxer, but when you get to the top of the levels, versus boxing it’s a huge disparity. I don’t like it and I wasn’t going to stand for it.”

Masvidal is sure a big name inside the UFC and with many other fighters speaking up for this issue we might see a big change happening real soon.
