- The rivalry between Strickland and Chimaev has intensified, with both fighters having trained together in the past.
The UFC middleweight division found new excitement following Sean Strickland’s recent win against Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez. Now, the former champion is laser-focused on getting his title shot against the undefeated champion Khamzat Chimaev. While no official announcement has been made, veteran Jorge Masvidal has already shared his prediction.
Khamzat Chimaev is well known for his wrestling dominance and suffocating pressure, which has helped him beat several opponents. In his last fight, Chimaev controlled former champion Dricus Du Plessis for five rounds and ultimately won via unanimous decision. While many believe Strickland might have a hard time beating ‘Borz’, Masvidal believes the reality will be different.
I don’t think Khamzat beats Strickland. I’m putting all my money on Strickland for that one. I’m dumping the house on Strickland. I don’t even think Chimaev will fight him because they’ve trained a lot

Jorge Masvidal recalled how, in his fight against Kamaru Usman on short notice, Chimaev struggled and didn’t get a dominant win. According to the former BMF champion, Strickland has a great takedown defense and wrestling background, which makes him a tough opponent for Chimaev. Strickland has also mentioned something similar, showing confidence in his wrestling abilities to beat Chimaev for the belt.

In his last fight, Strickland was the betting underdog against Hernandez, but pulled off a masterclass and won via TKO. Many believe that version Strickland has the best chances to beat Chimaev and bring the belt back to the U.S. On top of that, both fighters have a huge rivalry that has brewed for the last several years.
Both fighters trained with each other back at the Extreme Couture gym, and according to Chimaev, he submitted Strickland. However, ‘Tarzan’ refuted those claims and has often made personal jabs, including Chimaev’s relationship with a Chechen warlord. Following Strickland’s last performance, Chimaev has already verbally agreed to the bout, and fans are hyped about this rivalry.
Jorge Masvidal predicts the main event of the UFC White House event
Last weekend, during the broadcast of UFC 326, the promotion officially announced the highly anticipated White House event card. In the main event, Ilia Topuria will face interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in a massive title unification bout.

Gaethje earned the opportunity after defeating Paddy Pimblett earlier this year and is determined for one last title run. The veteran has already fallen short in two previous title opportunities and now plans to defeat ‘El Matador’ to finally claim the undisputed belt. However, according to Jorge Masvidal, Gaethje’s chances of beating the undefeated Topuria remain extremely slim.
I think Ilia does Gaethje worse. Ilia’s gonna beat brakes off him. He retires Homer Simpson and he’ll never come back fighting that dude. Homer Simpson is not walking out of that alive.
Jorge Masvidal continued.
For Ilia Topuria, the White House event presents a massive opportunity to extend his undefeated record and continue his incredible knockout streak. The Spanish-Georgian star has already knocked out Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira, three legends of the sport.
Similarly, defeating Justin Gaethje would cement Topuria’s legacy and further prove his dominance in the lightweight division. Topuria has already predicted the outcome confidently, and fans are eagerly anticipating what could be another spectacular finish.
Despite the excitement surrounding the fight, the overall White House event announcement received mixed reactions from fans online. While many praised the stacked card, others questioned why several massive stars were surprisingly left out.
Conor McGregor’s absence especially shocked fans, although Dana White claimed there was no serious talks about including him. White also revealed that Jon Jones was not added to the event due to ongoing injury concerns.
