Baltimore Orioles shortstop Jorge Mateo gets placed in IL after a horrifying collision in a match against Miami Marlins. The second baseman crashed with Gunnar Henderson as they both dove to catch a grounder by Jesus Sanchez during Tuesday night’s match.

Mateo got up quickly but fell back down grimacing in visible pain. He said he had elbow pain upon diagnosis by the team’s athletic trainer. Later after an MRI, and further tests the Baltimore Orioles placed him on 10-day IL with a dislocated left elbow.

He clarified all doubts saying the X-rays were negative and it’s “just swollen”. It shouldn’t take time for him to be with his teammates again. As for Mateo, it seems he’ll be back after a couple of days.
