India vs England 2021: “He has taken us to a completely new place” – Jos Buttler praises ‘special’ Eoin Morgan
Jos Buttler helped England to a terrific victory in the third T20I against India to ensure that the visitors headed into the rest of the series as favorites to clinch it. Chasing a total of 157 to win, the opening batsman immediately put the Indian bowlers on the back foot by taking them on and never letting them settle. He ended unbeaten on 83 which is his highest score in T20 internationals bettering his 81*.
England captain Eoin Morgan did not have to come to bat on a special occasion for him as it was his 100th match as England’s white-ball captain. The southpaw is already etched in English cricketing folklore for being the captain to give the nation its first ODI World Cup win in 2019. Morgan only continues to go strong as he takes his side to newer and further heights.
Jos Buttler speaks on Eoin Morgan
Jos Buttler spoke at the post-match presentation about his knock firstly and said, “It was nice to spend time in the middle. It was a great team performance. We got some good partnerships to see us home. People don’t expect me to attack spinners, so I tried to take it on. It was nice to chance my arm today against Chahal. First six off Chahal got me off and running. We managed to have a good powerplay.”
Buttler was then all praise for his skipper Eoin Morgan saying, “I tried to get across what a special achievement it is to play 100 matches and what he’s (Morgan) done for English white ball cricket. Eoin’s taken our white ball fortunes to a completely new place we’ve never been before.”
Eoin Morgan then returned the compliment by praising Jos Buttler saying, “Jos is a world-class player, we are very lucky to have him. He competes with the best in the world when it comes to opening the batting. There’s very little you have to say to Jos. He’s a great leader within our group, been around for a long time. Obviously he’s a huge influence in the dressing room. He’s a great friend of mine. Playing 100 games is a proud moment for me. The words that he said really warmed my heart and I am very grateful for that.”
The fourth T20I begins on the 18th of March.
