IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals welcome back Jos Buttler for clash against Kings XI Punjab
Rajasthan Royals 4 1
Rajasthan Royals (RR) got off to a great start in the 2020 Indian Premier League defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 16 runs. Today they face Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) who are in a great form as well. They are coming off the back of a 97-run hammering from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While KXIP wouldn’t want to tinker with their line-up too much, RR are expected to make changes for tonight’s match.
Buttler Returns
The biggest change for RR would be at the top of the order. Jos Buttler. Buttler missed RR’s game against CSK as he had to serve a period of quarantine. But the talismanic batsman is now back to power the line-up in the opening slot.
The Englishman’s availability for selection would be a huge boost to RR as they look to win two on the trot. The Royals’ Twitter handle welcomed Buttler back with a tweet stating, “The Jos show has come to town”.
RR’s formidable top-order
RR would now rely on Buttler to provide blazing starts at the top of the order. He is expected to open with young Yashasvi Jaiswal.
With Sanju Samson and Steve Smith slotting at No. 3 and 4, RR’s top order looks formidable. The new-look top-order will face their first test today against the KingsXI Punjab bowlers who themselves are in great form.
The likes of Mohammad Shami and Sheldon Cottrell can trouble the RR batters with their pace. The KXIP spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin can chip in with crucial wickets.
Today’s match at Sharjah promises to be a cracker of a contest. The previous match in Sharjah saw a plethora of sixes being hit. Given the talent on display today, it would be no surprise if we are in for another six-hitting spree from the batsmen.
