Jose Mourinho is fuming with VAR decisions against Brighton
Jose Mourinho was visibly displeased with the VAR decisions in the match against Brighton. Tottenham Hotspur won the game 2-1 courtesy of a late winner by Gareth Bale.
However the manner in which Spurs conceded the first goal came under immense scrutiny. Fans may argue that midfielder Hojberg was fouled in the build-up to the Brighton goal. But VAR was not interested and the goal from Tariq Lamptey stood.
Jose Mourinho unhappy with VAR
“I prefer to stay away [from VAR],” Mourinho said in an interview.
“Probably the referee should go to the press conference and explain. He had time to go to the screen so only he can explain why it is a goal. He is a good ref and a good guy, only he can explain that decision. My view doesn’t matter.”
VAR referee Jonathan Moss did alert on field referee Scott about a possible foul on Hojberg by Solly March. The referee took the help of the on field monitor and studied the incident for a long time.
However even after viewing the replay he did not give a foul and ruled that Tariq Lamptey’s goal stood. This frustrated the Tottenham Hotspur players as it was a clear foul on Hojberg.
