Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho‘s dramatic red card during a Europa League encounter against Manchester United has evoked wild reactions among fans. The match ended in a pulsating 1-1 draw, leaving both the clubs with just a point from the round.
The highly entertaining match between Fenerbahce and Man Utd at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul saw the legendary Portuguese manager being sent off for protesting against the referee’s decisions.
Just before the hour mark, Jose Mourinho was shown a straight red card for excessive penalty appeals, following Manuel Ugarte‘s foul on Bright-Osayi Samuel. Mourinho later spoke out against the decision during a post-match interview, after having watched the rest of the match from the stands.
Meanwhile, during the match, the Red Devils had taken an early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute of the match, through Christian Eriksen‘s brilliant strike The Danish midfielder found the back of the net from a brilliant lay-off pass from Joshua Zirkzee.
Andre Onana blocked a brilliant first half effort from Fenerbahce to level the score. They ultimately found an equalizer in the 49th minute of the match through Youssef En-Nesyri‘s towering header after receiving a cross inside the penalty area.

Mourinho is set to miss out on Fenerbahce’s next UEL outing against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, due to the red card suspension. The Turkish side, who are currently in the 14th position on the UEL league table with just five points from three matches, hope to better their winning record.

Another set of fans termed Mourinho as the ‘GOAT’ among managers, while also poking fun at his antics. It marks the former Chelsea manager’s first red card as the Fenerbahce manager after having received five during his previous stint with AS Roma.
