Several Buffalo Bills fans went home early after seeing the early bombardment of points from the Baltimore Ravens. However, it never crossed their minds that the Bills still have Josh Allen.

The Bills trailed the Ravens by fourteen points with just under five minutes left until the final whistle. Nothing short of a miracle could have saved them from a certain defeat.

These are the moments that define a player’s career. Tom Brady was famous for overturning deficits when he played. Winning a game from a 24-3 deficit in the Super Bowl was something special.

Ironically, Brady holds Allen in extremely high regard. He chose Allen as the next quarterback to win a ring, and the 29-year-old took a massive step in that direction.

Allen stepped notched up a gear. The impossible revival began with a 10-yard touchdown pass to second-year wide receiver Keon Coelman.

In the following drive, the Ravens made a terrible mistake. Derrick Henry, who had 150+ yards and two touchdowns on the night, fumbled the ball. The Bills grabbed the lucky break with open arms. Allen walked in his second score on the ground to reduce the deficit to just two points.

They came close to leveling the scores, but Coleman wasted the two-point conversion.

However, time was their biggest enemy, and the Ravens attempted to burn it as much as possible. This time, it was the Bills’ defense’s turn to play the role of the hero. They stopped a fourth-down conversion from Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to win back the ball on downs.

In the following drive, Allen found a wide-open Coleman in the middle of the field. Coleman only had one defender between him and the end zone, but he tumbled down on the ground after being tripped by the DB.

Bills kicker Matt Prater ran onto the field, and before the clock struck zero, he scored the game-winning field goal from 32 yards. The Bills won the 2025 opening day fixture with a 40-41 score.

Josh Allen saves the Bills from certain defeat

The Ravens were 1.5-point favorites to win over the Bills. For the longest time, the game was heading toward that outcome, but Allen had other ideas.

Allen completed 33 passes from 46 attempts (71% completion) for 394 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, along with 14 carries for 30 yards and two scores on the ground. A bulk of that statistic came in the fourth quarter. He threw 16 completions for 251 yards and 3 overall touchdowns to lead the Bills to a well-earned victory.

Before the season, Allen had 64 rushing touchdowns. Two against the Ravens took his tally to 66, surpassing legendary Bills running back Thurman Thomas as the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing TDs.

FOX Sports crew caught up with Allen after the final whistle. He had a few choice words for fans who went home early.

I think there were some people that left the stadium. That’s ok, we’ll be fine, but have some faith next time.

There are 16 more games left between today and the postseason. Allen and the Bills’ next opponents are from within the division, the New York Jets, who lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their first game.
