Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills faltering again at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs was enough fodder for everyone to talk about. It was a major blow to the passionate Bills mafia who badly hoped for this season to be the time when they can finally call themselves Super Bowl winners.
Many analysts and fans did give them the benefit of doubt early on this season as the team was technically in rebuilding mode. However, their performances on the field suggested the rebuild might not take as long as originally thought.
They traded for star wide receiver Amari Cooper to help push for a possible deep playoff run. Then when they beat the likes of the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens soundly, it gave the Bills mafia hope that this could be the season.
Then a couple of controversial stops saw the Chiefs manage to hold them off from tying the game. Josh Allen cut a dejected figure after that disappointment and analyst Chris Russo believes this loss has added to the headaches the Buffalo Bills fanbase has endured for long.

He believes the franchise and its fans have already been tormented enough by not being able to win the four Super Bowls they have been to in the past. On top of it, dropped catches stopping them from reaching the big game in back-to-back seasons will pile on the misery.
Josh Allen and the Bills have to find the next gear
In his analogy, while grading the most tortured NFL fans, he cited that the likes of the Detroit Lions are on the cusp of winning it all. Therefore, their fans would view their current team as being on the cusp. However, he believes the Buffalo Bills fans will feel the pain as now they have lost four times to the same quarterback and the same team.
That is unheard of in a game such as football where every year teams jostle to win it all. To lose to the same opponent four times in the same era could make many fans feel as if they are cursed. However, Chris Russo did suggest that dropped passes will not work against Patrick Mahomes.
Russo’s colleague Stephen A. Smith clarified that for Jalen Hurts to win the Super Bowl against Mahomes and the Chiefs, he will have to do more than he has this past season. Russo’s point was along those lines. He knows Josh Allen has had an unbelievable season. But against the Chiefs, Allen and his Bills teammates will have to find that next gear.
