Football players dread a concussion more than any other injury. Simply due to the growing concerns of long-term risks. For Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Thursday’s concussion happens to be his fourth in the last two years. Knowing the history, opposing QB Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills was also affected by seeing his compatriot suffering another one.
The Bills quarterback sat alongside the crew of The Nightcap hosted on Prime Video. When asked about the concussion Tua Tagovailoa suffered, Allen gave his flowers to Miami’s star.
If you know Tua outside of football, like you do, like I do, you can't help but feel for him. He's a great football player, but he's an even greater human being. He's one of the best humans on the planet. I got a lot of love for him, and I'm just praying for him and his family, hoping everything is okay. It's tough. This game of football that we play, it's got its highs and its lows, that's definitely one of the lows.Josh Allen said
Josh Allen would want the 26-year-old to be healthy and resume play. He knows all too well that Tua Tagovailoa is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the NFL. If anything, it will be a loss for the league if a quarterback with that much arm talent is forced to retire.
But concussions are a serious black mark on Tagovailoa’s resume. The unavailability can result in a good season going awry. The Miami Dolphins have invested a lot in building a team around him. For that plan to succeed, they need him out on the field, and particularly play better than how he did in week 2 game.
Josh Allen’s Bills shut down Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins
In week 1, the Dolphins barely scraped by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Against the Bills, they had a chance to take it a step further. Instead, it was the retooled Buffalo Bills defense that wanted to show their dominance. To achieve that, they followed a simple procedure.
The Bills placed two safeties high up their backfield, which took away the deep-threat ability of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. That collapsed the field for Tagovailoa, as he did not have reliable catching options in the middle of the field. This forced fit on gameday De’Von Achane to take the bulk of the load. But the free-to-fire defensive line ensured he did not get a free run.
Then, when they wanted to extend plays through their receivers, they pressured Tua Tagovailoa in to throw three interceptions. For the Miami Dolphins to revert to their defense-scaring ways, they need to rethink how they played. But first, they need their star quarterback to be healthy.
