For six seasons, Josh Allen developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His rise though, did not transition to major trophies for the Buffalo Bills. Last season, he started to change the narrative, carrying a retooling team deep into the playoffs.
That 13-4 run was in part due to the quarterback’s stellar play. All season, he looked as if he had turned his own performances up a notch. Some of those heroics even helped the Bills break the Kansas City Chiefs unbeaten run.
But the Chiefs returned the favor in the AFC Championship game after Allen was stopped, quite controversially, a few times from converting fourth downs. Had they at least made it to the Super Bowl, it would have been a fitting end to the season.
He wrapped up his first league MVP, beating out AFC rival Lamar Jackson despite not making it to the 1st Team All-Pro. The award justified his play as he dragged a team that was expected to have a mid season at best. Now, the Buffalo Bills have decided to reward him for his efforts.
A new NFL mark: the Bills and Josh Allen reached agreement on a new record-setting six-year, $330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed, the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player, sources tell ESPN.

Allen had four years left on his deal, but the Bills… pic.twitter.com/HVImHRv7TB
This is despite the Bills could have waited as the recently engaged QB still had four years left on his current contract. Now, Josh Allen joins the $50+ million club but is not the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
Fans lose their minds on Josh Allen’s revised contract
When this news broke, eyebrows raised all over the football world. Fans remember Josh Allen said that he was not bothered about the major hikes other quarterbacks received. Now a season later, he joins a club from which only one player has won the Super Bowl.

Followers of the sport pointed out that other than his personal MVP win, the 28-year-old has not done enough to receive such a raise. He has not surpassed Patrick Mahomes who already has three Super Bowls to show for despite earning a lot less. Check out examples of such comments below.

Josh Allen’s revised contract can go against him. On one hand, QBs earning at the top of the tree generally have not won enough to justify such massive contracts. But then, not giving a league MVP what he deserves might also be bad publicity for the Bills. They do not want a repeat of what happened with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
