Josh Allen opts out of Pro Bowl after another disappointing loss to Patrick Mahomes
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills were closer than ever to defeating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to reach the Super Bowl.

Josh Allen is probably sulking right now thinking about the AFC Championship game loss to arch-rival Patrick Mahomes. In what would be his fourth playoff loss to his rival, the Buffalo Bills star misses out on another chance at winning a Super Bowl.
It is not as if he did not try. The two-time All-Pro first got his team into a slender lead. Then, after his team fell behind, fought back to bring them level. He also fought against the stud Kansas City Chiefs’ defense to try and force a 1st down.
Had the referees reviewed their decision and maybe awarded him that crucial pick up, maybe Josh Allen could have had another chance to at least tie the game and send it to overtime. Had he then won, he would have been sitting on a day off resting his tired body.
He would still be grinning about his victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. But instead, it seems the loss has affected him quite a bit. The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov got his hands on Pro Bowl teams and revealed this on X earlier.

Josh Allen was named a Pro Bowler after a stellar season with a seemingly rebuilding Buffalo Bills. But it seems he does not want to be a part of the activities after such a gut-wrenching loss. He and his team were closer than ever to getting their first ticket to the Super Bowl but came up short.
Drake Maye makes it to his first Pro Bowl in place of Josh Allen
If a player opts out of the Pro Bowl, they are replaced by someone else. Both the AFC and NFC teams need to have enough players on both sides for the events to commence. On that note, as per Ari Meirov, the NFL decided to give Drake Maye a place.
The New England Patriots third overall pick was expected to learn behind veteran Jacoby Brissett. However, Brissett’s own struggles paved the way for the rookie to play significant minutes in ten games. Ironically, he also attempted one pass against the Buffalo Bills in one of their major upset wins this season.
Drake Maye threw for 2,276 yards and fifteen touchdowns and finished with a QBR of 58.6. That last number happens to be top seventeen in the league. He beat the likes of fellow rookie sensation and playoff starter Bo Nix, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins and last season’s best rookie CJ Stroud.
With the New England Patriots hiring Josh McDaniels again, this might be possibly the last time Maye gets into the Pro Bowl as a substitute. McDaniels is noted for helping quarterbacks take a significant leap. Maye will probably battle Josh Allen for a spot next season.
