The Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans game in Week 5 of NFL Sunday was the first battle of former teammates Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs as opponents. With the game focused on how the two fared without each other, the battles showed one was better off than the other. But then, another situation came into the eyes of fans which has now lit up social media.
The aforementioned situation took place in the fourth quarter, with a little more than four minutes remaining in the game. Allen tried to convert a third and eight when he ran toward his right to avoid the Texans’ pass rush. But they got to him and grabbed his legs for the sack.
As he fell down, Josh Allen hit his head hard on the turf. It even bounced up and down again leaving him motionless for a split second. Medical staff rushed onto the field, but he walked towards the medical tent on his own.
We all saw Josh Allen seemingly get knocked out, yet they just threw him a smelling salt and right back into the game. As if that was going to undo any head trauma he just suffered. ??♂️ https://t.co/E4VqSghsLv pic.twitter.com/LNydTMPgm2

The Houston Texans launched a drive to score, but the defense shut them down. So far there was no sight of Allen. Even backup QB Mitchell Trubisky was brought in to start their drive playing the first play. Then the two-time Pro Bowler came back and threw two incompletions on the next two plays.
In total, Allen spent all of five plays inside the medical tent before resuming his game. From this, it is clear that he was first checked and then cleared to resume play. Not the usual way the concussion protocol works in the NFL. Mostly, fans feel the Buffalo Bills and the league have put the star QB in harm’s way by allowing him to return.
Fans fuming at NFL and Bills after Josh Allen was let back in
Former player Emmanuel Acho led the questions as he felt that the Buffalo Bills fast tracked their QB’s recovery by using smelling salts. Many fans also noticed that for any other player the league and its army of medical experts and officials would have initiated the concussion protocol.
That would have kept Allen in the medical tent until further review. But letting him back in five plays later when replays clearly showed that he hit his head hard was seen as a blatant lack of need for player safety.
Fans watching the replays took to social media to vent their frustrations. They felt the NFL and the Buffalo Bills did not do the right thing for Allen. Check out some of those comments below;

Josh Allen appears to have SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, they gave him SMELLING SALTS then allowed him to return to the game.

This should be a HUGE PENALTY and VERY risky for Josh Allen’s health.
He could have suffered another concussion which could have caused second impact… https://t.co/1d7Tl4WCCO
Completely wrong that he came back in the game. I hope he recovers with good health. This is a complete catastrophic mishandling of the team and nfl. No one will talk about it for a week straight in the media. And it’s not the first time this man has gone through this.

It wasn’t a dolphins QB so there’s a different set of rules that other teams follow

His arm went limp and his hand curled under awkwardly. He was out for a few seconds. Looked like a concussion to me.

I thought the league has independent spotter for that? Where were they?

If this was Miami you’d get a week of coverage on ESPN and FS1 on how we’re trying to get Tua killed ??

Josh Allen’s performance fell short of the standards typically expected of him in the game.
Those incompletions after hitting his head were a continuation of how his entire game went, eventually losing to his former teammate. If the NFL does not step in, Josh Allen will suit up against the New York Jets next week.
