Josh Allen in the snow is a different beast. He can see through the downpour and throw precise passes like a hawk—glide his way past defenders as if they aren’t even there and, given the chance, can even receive a pass as well.

It may sound odd considering Allen is a quarterback, but that’s exactly what happened under freezing temperatures at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo on Sunday night. The San Francisco 49ers, hailing from sunny California, experienced the same misery as the Miami Dolphins only a few days ago.

After the 49ers opened the scoring through a field goal, Allen led the Bills down to the other end and set Ray Davis on first and goal for Buffalo’s first of the night. Seven minutes into the second quarter, the Pro Bowler released James Cook, who began running from inside his own half to score a 65-yard rushing touchdown.

Allen threw his first touchdown pass on the night to Mack Hollins, who shrugged off Niners Charvarius Ward in the end zone. However, the play of the game took place ten minutes into the third quarter.

On third down from first and goal, Allen snapped the ball and found wide receiver Amari Cooper, who shielded the ball from a couple of 49ers defenders. Cooper showed presence of mind and handed the ball back to the onrushing Allen, who leaped over the pylon to score a receiving touchdown. The referee counted the score as a receiving touchdown even though didn’t award a reception.

The 28-year-old secured the Bills passage to the playoffs just three minutes into the final quarter by bulldozing his way past players for an 8-yard touchdown. The game ended 10-35. Josh Allen finished with an incredible 2 passing, 1 receiving, and 1 rushing touchdown with a quarterback rating of 150.81.

The Bills became the fifth team to secure 10 victories this season, and the lion’s share of the credit has to go to Allen. In 12 games he has 230 completions for 2691 yards (64.6% completion rate), 20 passing touchdowns, and 5 interceptions, along with 4 rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving TD.
