The season might not have gone as the Buffalo Bills hoped for, but they sure were grateful after their star quarterback Josh Allen was honored with the NFL MVP award, which he rightly deserved. The competition sure wasn’t easy as the quarterback tightly contested with a two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, whose stats were also better than Allen but after leading his team to the AFC Championship game, he won over the voters.
Despite being counted among the top quarterbacks in the league, Allen’s accolades are not very glorious but his first MVP award has certainly added some much-needed shimmer. Although the space of a Super Bowl ring remains vacant, his first MVP award in 11 years was extremely special for him.
But looks like that was just the beginning. Spotrac reported on Friday that the All-Pro signal-caller was rewarded with a whopping $1.5 million for his MVP win as an added incentive in his contract with the Bills. What’s more interesting is that this bonus is more than Allen’s base salary of $1,125,000 for the 2024 season.

After restructuring Allen’s contract in 2023, the Bills freed up $21,136,000 in cap space. They converted $26,420,000 of his salary into bonuses and made a similar adjustment in 2024 by converting his $14,875,000 of compensation into bonuses, reducing his salary to $$1,125,000. This resulted in Allen cashing in $60 million in cash for the season, while the Bills enjoyed a $16.7 million cap space, as per Spotrac.
Josh Allen overwhelmed by tribute from Oishie Children’s Hospital
After the heartbreak of the playoffs in January, the Bills mafia took a sign of relief seeing Allen standing on the stage of NFL honors, holding his well-deserved MVP award in his hand. Following the award ceremony, which Allen attended with his fiancee Hailee Steinfeld, Allen watched the special tribute video by his friend at Oishie Children’s Hospital.

Why you are doing this to me? Ah… man! I mean… it’s pretty cool. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. My job is not that hard, I play football [but] what you guys have to go through and continue to fight through is much harder than what I do. And I look up to you as much as you look up to me. And I really appreciate that. Love you guys… I didn’t want to cry tonight.
An emotional Josh Allen said
Allen has a special connection to the hospital because his grandmother used to work there and after her death, he created the Patricia Allen Fund to honor her. He is often seen volunteering at the Pediatric Recovery Wing, which is also named after his grandmother, Patricia Allen.
