The game started with the ball in the hands of the three-time Super Bowl MVP. But the superstar quarterback threw an interception on that very first drive. With possession in their hands, running back James Cook ran in to put the first points of the night on the board.

In the second half, after both defenses played exquisite football, and the offenses went back to their scoring ways. With the Buffalo Bills in the lead, they scored two more touchdowns either side of a Chiefs score. That left Patrick Mahomes on the back foot with a little more than two-minutes left.

The 29-year-old quickly drove eighteen yards down the field. But tackle Jawaan Taylor was finally called for a holding penalty pegging them back by ten. On his next snap, Mahomes tossed it towards Travis Kelce, but Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard jumped in to intercept it, which iced the game.

After multiple instances of Mahomes winning against Josh Allen, this game was the opposite. It was the Bills QB’s touchdown run that pegged the Chiefs back. Then his rival throwing an interception in front of the Bills Mafia was a movie script the home fans will cherish for some time.

With almost eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Buffalo Bills were just two points ahead. The pressure was on them with the Bills Mafia howling away into the evening. Knowing that a field goal would not be enough against the Chiefs, they started their drive down the field.

The drive saw an even number of runs and passes, but the Bills still had twenty-six yards to score. Facing a fourth and two and with 2:17 left on the clock, the pressure was now on the home team. Josh Allen took the snap, dropped back, surveyed the field and darted back into a run.

He skipped past two defenders, then wriggled past three more and lowered his shoulder into a sixth to plough himself into the end zone. With the score finishing at 30-21 CBS analyst Jim Nantz dubbed it as possibly the “play of the year”. That major nail into the Chiefs unbeaten coffin was Josh Allen’s way to win against his rival.
