Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills hit a rough spot before winning again in Week 8. However, they will have to do a lot more against Patrick Mahomes and his resurgent Kansas City Chiefs.

Their Week 9 clash is coming at an odd time. The Bills started the season exceedingly well, winning impressively against the Baltimore Ravens.

Since then, they faced three lackluster teams, and as expected, Allen and his team did what they needed to win those games. They should have done the same in their next two games.

However, the offense looked confused, and the superstar QB was not looking like his MVP-winning self. They ended up dropping both those games ahead of their Week 7 bye.

The final score in their win against the Carolina Panthers last weekend gave their fans hope. Analysts pointed out that it was the Panthers’ mistakes rather than the Bills’ performance that won them the game. That is what led Dan Orlovsky to say this.

Looking at Josh, the one word I would use to describe him right now is frustrated… That’s why he’s taking some of these sacks, that’s why he is running around.

Dan Orlovsky said on NFL Live

The ESPN analyst added that the Buffalo Bills might have to engineer schemes to help their receivers get downhill. Orlovsky then mentioned that if they cannot get downhill, then the Bills might have to find receivers who can stretch the opposition.

His colleague, Andrew Hawkins, agreed, suggesting that the long game is what makes Josh Allen that dangerous. However, it is missing at the moment.

Josh Allen believes Bills have to confuse the Chiefs

Last season, Josh Allen willed his Buffalo Bills to a famous victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular season. When they met again in the AFC Championship Game, it was the latter who, albeit ‘controversially’, managed to get the last laugh.

This time, the pressure is on the New York State-based team, as they know they are about to face a team that is improving every single week. When asked what they would do differently, the reigning MVP said:

I think we’ve played them damn near every year since I’ve gotten here… There’s different things that you can do, seeing each other throughout the years. Making things look the same but being completely different.

This answer seems to indicate that Allen and his team are trying to figure out how to confuse the Chiefs. They know it is not an easy task, as the two have battled 9 times in 5 years.

Josh Allen and his Bills have a tough remaining schedule

Going up against Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs was probably not the best way for Josh Allen and his offense to try to find their rhythm.

There is a reason why bettors are leaning towards the former to win despite the prospect of facing the hostile Bills Mafia. It seems football fans do not have a firm belief in the home team.

That is not where their troubles end. In the remaining part of their schedule, they will face playoff teams 5 times over their final 9 games. Even if they make the playoffs, their current form has fans believing they do not have Super Bowl contender written over them.
