Josh Hart has jokes after having to pay $2000 for flopping

Josh Hart has built a reputation as one of the hardest working players in the league. He does the dirty work for the New York Knicks and has been instrumental in their resurgence. Along with that, the star also has a hilarious side.

He has resorted to humorous antics multiple times. Be it to troll Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller live during their Eastern Conference playoff battle. Or to subtly troll other players across the NBA world, he does not stop at anything.

He is also known to throw subtle jabs at his own teammates with Jalen Brunson facing most of it. But then, he became the butt of jokes when he flopped during their loss to the Boston Celtics. Fans felt with the Knicks struggling against leading teams, Hart was resorting to antics instead of making good plays.

That came to the attention of the league, and they reviewed the play just as they would on most incidents. With officiating under massive scrutiny, the league decided to punish Josh Hart, and they released a statement earlier.

NYK’s Josh Hart was assessed a postgame Flopping fine of $2,000 upon league office review for (the flop) on Feb. 23 vs. BOS.

The NBA are strict against players resorting to flopping. Since it is detrimental to the excitement fans pay money to watch, they take a hardline approach. However, not all flops are fined. Some players get away with it as there was some contact to initiate the action.

Josh Hart finds humor in flopping fine

Josh Hart probably thought the same as he felt the league might not notice how blatant his flop was. It was blatant enough that some on X talked about giving the New York Knicks star an Oscar for his acting. The 29-year-old took that reference and wrote this on his X page.

Dang no Oscar for me.

He posted a laughing emoticon after this message, suggesting he was trolling himself for getting caught. The league catching him and fining him meant his acting was good, but it was a bit too much to make the flop evident.

The guard and his teammates though are coming under increasing scrutiny. After that loss to the Boston Celtics, the Knicks have now lost seven straight games to playoff contenders. Not a good sign considering all the assets they sent away in trades for superstar.

The New York Knicks expected to contend for an NBA title or two. Their early season form added to that belief. But now, they are losing steam at a time when their conference rivals are gaining. They have to find the next gear if they are to end up in a favorable playoff position.
