Josh Hart’s Wife Calls Jaylen Brown ‘Weird’ After Brown Grabbed Hart’s Nutsack
Shannon Hart was appalled by footage of Jaylen Brown apparently reaching for the groin area of her husband Josh Hart.

Josh Hart and Jaylen Brown got into a fight in game 5
The Boston Celtics lived to fight another day after securing a blowout 127-102 win at TD Garden against the Knicks. Olympian Derrick White led all scorers with 34 points. Jaylen Brown took over the point forward role from Jayson Tatum, who is out for the year with an Achilles tear. He finished with 26 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds. However, Brown was also responsible for the first real flare-up of the series against Josh Hart.
While the Celtics and Knicks don’t necessarily have confrontational players, the rivalry between the two teams has been building for three seasons. However, both teams have players who play physical styles of basketball. This can often lead to some chippy encounters. Given the attrition between the teams in clutch periods, it was but a matter of time before all of the physicality gave way to some real bad blood.
Jaylen Brown was the primary defender on Knicks talisman Jalen Brunson for the majority of the game. On the first possession of the third quarter, Brown attempted to navigate through a Josh Hart screen for Brunson. Brown clearly felt fazed by the type of screen he encountered. After going around Hart once, Brown put his hands on Hart’s groin area, who had repositioned his feet for a differently angled screen.
This action understandably triggered a response from Hart, who got into a short shoving match with Brown. Although Luke Kornet quickly stepped in to keep Hart away, the two teams came together and the referees had to stop the melee. It later emerged through slow-motion cameras that Brown had put his hands on Hart’s testicles.
NBA Twitter ran rampant with memes after this encounter. However, Hart’s wife Shannon did not see the funny side of the exchange. She deemed Jaylen Brown ‘weird’ after seeing a tweet with footage of the faceoff.

Really alarming stuff here. It’s like he made sure he had hold of it then tugged.

Josh Hart and Jaylen Brown will have more to prove in Game 6
Although Brown had a spectacular game 5 outing, he still has a lot of reputational damage to undo. His output in this year’s playoffs has been subpar for the most part. Through the first four games of the series, Brown had 15 turnovers and only 7 made threes. He also only had 13 assists in those games, compared to the 12 he tallied on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old will be looking to prove that he can hold the reins for Boston next season in Tatum’s absence. Jayson Tatum, in all likelihood, will miss the whole of the 2025-26 NBA season due to his Achilles tear. How Brown performs in the no. 1 option role in the remaining game(s) of their playoff run will dictate Brad Stevens’ strategy during the offseason and set the tone for the Celtics’ future.
Josh Hart also has a lot to prove. Other than some clutch shots made in game 2, his offensive contributions as a starter have largely been restricted to getting rebounds. With the Celtics starting two bigs in Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, Hart may also be benched in favor of Mitchell Robinson.
Although both players would have put the incident behind themselves, more chippy play is likely to ensue in game 6 between both teams.
