Josh Hart and Jaylen Brown got into a fight in game 5 after the latter put his hands on Hart's balls, and Shannon Hart won't have it.

The New York Knicks sealed their first Eastern Conference Finals berth in 25 years after a 119-81 win at Madison Square Garden. Without Jayson Tatum to set the tempo, the Celtics looked disheveled on both ends of the floor. The Knicks took the lead in the first minute of the game, and their maximum deficit was one point. Josh Hart had the Knicks’ first playoff triple-double since Clyde ‘Walt’ Frazier in his heyday.
Hart had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists on the night. Three of his 11 rebounds were off offensive rebounds. The 6’4″ swingman has been an integral member of the Knicks’ lineup since being traded from the Portland Trail Blazers. Hart has underlined his importance to the Knicks yet again in this playoff run, punching above his contract weight and showing why Tom Thibodeau reposes faith in his as a starter.
Josh Hart has had some contentious moments in this playoff run. The Villanova product got into a shoving match with Jaylen Brown after the latter attempted to squeeze his testicles while navigating a screen. The referees gave them both double technicals since they didn’t observe what Brown had done exactly. However, once replays hit the internet, Brown caught flak from all quarters for his distasteful actions.
Hart’s wife Shannon had expressed her dismay at his actions and deemed Brown weird in a tweet. Despite Hart’s triumphant game 6 outing, Shannon refused to lay off Brown. She took to Twitter/X to troll Brown after game 6. Shannon Hart posted an image of an abdominal cup to protect the groin areas, joking that Hart was ready to put it on ahead of game 6 for protection.

The Knicks-Celtics rivalry is the oldest in NBA history and has a chequered track record of its own. Although it hasn’t really been a thing since the era of Larry Bird, with both teams playing like contenders today, fans have been ready for a renewal of the age-old antagonism. Although the Knicks have taken the series (their second straight postseason win over Boston since 2013), fans will feel there was meat left on the bone. Perhaps the two teams will go at it again when the Celtics are able to get Jayson Tatum back.
Josh Hart will have yet another tough task on his hands in the ECF
The Indiana Pacers are the fastest offensive team in the NBA. They rely on their transition play and are quick to advance the ball up the floor, whether they’ve been scored on or not. Their propensity to push the tempo all game long and use it to their advantage with Tyrese Haliburton calling the shots will pose a mean challenge to the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Josh Hart will likely be tasked with guarding Haliburton and chasing him up and down the floor, since his backcourt and podcast partner Jalen Brunson will have more offensive responsibilities to handle. Hart has taken on this challenge with vigor in the past, having guarded Haliburton in the 2024 playoffs. He will have to also take on the red-hot Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith and TJ McConnell at various points.
The Knicks will possibly also look to slow the tempo of the game down to counter the Pacers’ style of play. And to do that effectively, one change they could make would be benching Hart for Mitchell Robinson. But if they stick to their current lineups, Hart will also have to be a bigger offensive contributor. His 3-point shooting has been sub-par in this year’s playoffs, and the Pacers have more than enough offense to make the Knicks pay for their relatively lower shooting assets.
