“It’s probably in our best interest if we can knock them out,” Josh Hazlewood makes explosive remark ahead of their clash against Scotland

England versus Australia has always been a juicy rivalry on the cricketing pitch. Whether it’s the Ashes or a collision in the T20 World Cup, the two powerhouses of the sport are never willing to back down, no matter the cost or the path. Ahead of their clash against Scotland, Aussie fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood had something very intriguing to say.
Now how things pan out later in the tournament will be a million-dollar question. Still, at the moment, the Bendemeer Bullet has certainly sent the world spiralling into some serious chaos.
In this tournament, you potentially come up against England at some stage again. They're probably one of the top few teams on their day and we've had some real struggles against them in T20 cricket, so if we can get them out of the tournament that's in our best interest as well as probably everyone else. It'll be interesting to see. We've never really been in this position before as a team, I don't think, so whether we have discussions or not, we'll just try and play it again the way we did tonight.Josh Hazlewood said in the Scotland match pre-presser
As things stand, Australia and England were clubbed together in Group B of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Australia is currently at the top of the points table with three wins from three games and an NRR of +3.580.
Australia and England’s campaign in T20 World Cup so far
Australia started the tournament with a resounding win against Oman followed by an exemplary display against the Three Lions, securing a staggering win by 36 runs. They continued their dominant run as they ran over Namibia mercilessly.
Defending champions England, on the contrary, have found themselves in a bit of a soup with their clash against Scotland being washed away. Before the Rain Gods’ rude interruption, the Scots put up quite a show, blasting 90 runs from just 10 overs.
England still has clashes remaining against undercooked oppositions like Namibia and Oman which sets them on the path to the Super Eights unless there is a drastic event that will mark the ongoing edition of the tournament for the mother of all upsets.
However, there is a small catch in the road to England’s qualification. As Scotland has managed to secure a couple of wins and if by some magic borrowed from the cricketing Gods, they can upstage Australia, they will be the second team to qualify from the group with the Three Lions eliminated.
Now obviously if it is found that Australia is complicitly involved in manipulating the upshot of the game, then as Article 2.11 states in the ICC Code of Conduct, Mitchell Marsh can be banned for two out of the three Super Eight games.
