Josh Jacobs made a boatload of headlines earlier this year when he turned down significantly more money to stay with the Green Bay Packers, with whom he signed this offseason. After a somewhat rocky start, the season exceeded running back’s expectations, leading to an emotional outpouring when the Packers qualified for the playoffs.
The Packers entered Week 16 with the playoff berth at stake against the New Orleans Saints. They understood the significance of the game very well as they obtained early dominance and didn’t even give their opponent a chance to put numbers on the scoreboard, resulting in a startling 34-0 victory.
Jacobs, who ran the ball 13 times for 69 yards and a touchdown along with four catches for 38 yards, expressed his overwhelming emotions after securing the playoff berth. During the post-game press conference, he said:
Josh Jacobs almost got emotional when asked about getting another crack at postseason.

“It’s hard to put into words.”
This is why he signed with #Packers. To finally play on center stage. That smile when I asked how different this December feels than the past says it all. pic.twitter.com/NGvdCVYkV9
Part of the reason why Jacobs’ emotions were at peak after the impressive victory was due to the fact that it marked his second playoff appearance, given that in his five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, he had only qualified for playoffs once and then too couldn’t advance past the wild-card round.
Josh Jacobs alleviates injury concerns after limited play in Packers’ dominant victory
Not all the moments of Monday’s game were glorious as the running back concerned his fans after leaving the field in pain. The Packers fans were worried that Jacobs may have sustained an injury as his performance was limited to just one series in the second half of Monday Night Football.
Head coach Matt Lafleur also addressed Jacobs’ restricted play, saying that he decided to give him rest as they were already dominating the game. He wanted the running back to be in his best shape when they face off divisional rival, Minnesota Vikings, in the Week 17 showdown.
